But if 2 fighters from 2 division wants to fight it out but neither wants to go to each other's current division, they could meet in the middle to make the fight.

I think it's more fair than one fighter going up or going down. For example if a LMW goes down to challenge a WW and lose, they would say he was drained. If the WW fought a LMW anf lose, they would say that he was a small guy that was dragged up.

Btw, did you consider the Pac-Oscar as CW even if it happened at full WW?

I voted "doesn't matter" or whatever, but I guess if i had to say right or wrong i'd say wrong. But I don't really care. If an adult owns a title and the rules say that title is disputed between 148lbs and 160lbs, and that adults signs a private contract that says he will dispute that title at 156lbs, that's that adult's decision to make.

My personal opinion about catchweights are fine if both fighters agreed to it. It's not like the current weight limits are magical numbers that fighters only perform satisfactory on those limits.

Titles should not be staked if not done at the full division limit though.

Oscar should of asked for 154, since he had been fighting for several years at MW, then eventually coming down to 154 or Floyd, then 150 for Forbes before draining himself to 147

I ask, should a CW of let's say 150 be a title fight for JMW?

Did you even know the circumstances that time? Even going down to 147 to fight a 130/135 Pac that time, Oscar was receiving some flak. What more if he asked Pacquiao to move up 3 divisions?

No... I'm asking you if you consider it a CW fight even if it was held at full 147 limit?

ust like Dawson offering coming down to 168 for Ward is not a catchweight, because it was fought at the SMW limit, if Pac had asked Oscar for 150, or 145 or whichever else, then it was a catchweight, in this case Oscar came down from JMW to WW

The fight WAS OSCARS idea (ala Merchant). :patsch

It was Oscar who dragged a LW Pac at 135 to 147.

Btw, why the eff did this fight even happen?????

Cuz Mayweather ducked Oscar by retiring for a year and 1 day. Mayweather was contractually obligated to rematch Oscar, and the contract had an expiration of 1 year. That freaking ducker lol. So Oscar needed to create a fight with as much drama and appeal to the masses, and Pacquiao was it.

You jerk offs using revisionist history to say Pac dragged Oscar down. Gfto.

Catch weights in title fights should not be allowed. If you can't beat the champ at their weight, you shouldn't challenge them.

I'm not a fan, especially considering that there are like 452 divisions anyway.

It's been long part of boxing history, but so has multiple recognized titles, since the 1920s.

I can't think of any catchweighr title fights where I think the winner would have been different if it was fought at the limit, it's not something that bothers me that much, but I still just prefer title fights to be at the actual weight limit

Some of them did use them.

Sugar Ray Leonard, Julio Cesar Chavez. Henry Armstrong defended his title at a catchweight.

Joe Gans fought Walcott at a catch weight, but I think it was a non-title fight
