We're discussing how catchweights can facilitate the best fights being made between guys 1 weight class apart. It's an interesting case study since here one guy is willing to drop all the way down, so a catchweight is unnecessary. However since Floyd would never take advantage of his leverage like that, a catchweight solves the problem! Make it a no title fight, and only the irrational have reason to complain.
ppl should just fight in one weight class. catchweights seem to me like it's used for fighters to take advantage of the other. Where is the challenge in that?
Again what gives you the right to make this judgement, you his doctor? You think he's too old to drop down to 157? He was pretty damn old when he moved up from 154, not cause he had to, cause it was the only good fight he could get. Then went back down to 158 for his career biggest win. Whatever, I see you're determined to find an excuse for that fight not happening.
I want it at 160. But I know you're determined to vindicate bull**** catchweight fights just so you can big up your hero Pacquiao's wins :yep
Yeah, and Dawson also is large in his weight, unlike Sergio, and moved up to LHW young, with no accomplishments below. But which one cheapens it less though? Note one of these is not a catchweight, so not sure why you feel it cheapens it?
just stop this ***gotry. if 2 man want to fight and both agree to fight at a catchweight, who are you or anybody to stop them from fighting.?
Ok so why not stick to talking about catchweights. Floyd fighting Martinez at a catchweight is crap, so is bringing down a 40 yr old or having to restrict him. People FLIPPED when Floyd let "old" (36 lol) used up Marquez come up to welterweight Yet you think people will see a fight with a 40 yr old being brought down as legitimate atsch atsch Just not.
Spare me this fake outrage. Floyd would get huge credit from near everyone for fighting Sergio at 157, or even 154. The higher the weight, the more credit. Make a poll. Make it a non title fight at 157, why not? Put 159 in there just so I can laugh seeing *****s like you voting no on all counts
Pretty convenient. I still might make that poll, I don't think I've seen one like it yet. Basically make my multiple choice into a public poll. I can see strong trends already
If you're really "accepting the challenge," you're fighting the man at 160 for HIS Middleweight title. Pretty significant. How many times do you need to see a guy drop to a weight they haven't fought at in years, and see them be a walking corpse in the ring? :conf You want a guy, pushing 40, to move down to a weight he hasn't made in 4 years. (A draw with Kermit "Leaping Man" Cintron btw) If Mayweather wants to be the man, and beat Sergio, you fight him at 160. Just IMO. 154 wouldn't mean a thing to me. Sergio would be cashing out. I would disapprove of the move and discredit the win if Mayweather fought Sergio at 154. Guaranteed, Sergio will be a corpse come fight night at 154 if he fought Mayweather today, let alone months from now.
Whatever helps you sleep at night. You like catchweights, and I think they **** on the win. If thats what you like then so be it.
