I think it's possible, but doesn't he get to make that decision? He's an adult, moreover a p4p champ. And if that's the concern, make it 156-158 CW, fair for everyone. Make it a non title fight if you don't want to cheat history. Problem solved.

Besides, it's not so implausible. Hopkins was lots older when he went down 5lbs to school Pavlik, and Johnson also much older when he went down 7lbs to KO Green and give Froch a tough fight.

I'd like to see Martinez come down and have a tune up at the weight first if it came to him moving down. Like when Oscar came down to 150, but looked ****.

It's just not worth his while, unless there's a guarantee for a big fight down the line. And we know how his target feels about guarantees.

But Cotto is making noises about fighting Sergio at 157, so maybe we'll see what you're hoping for. Kinda doubt it though.

It was different with Oscar though, he was looking to beat up on midgets to revive his flagging career. Hatton was also in play. These weren't especially big fights for him, money wise, Pac included. By contrast, Sergio is looking for money.

Whatever that has to do with anything. I know one thing, he wasn't looking to retire on his stool vs a cherrypicked midget. As obvious as it was in retrospect, how could genius Schaefer, Nacho, Dundee and company sign off on that?

Because it meant a percentage of Pacquiao's future earnings :yep

Why do you think he didn't fight Margarito? Because he was locked into Top Rank after the big Cotto win whereas Cotto's contract was expiring, he wanted the Cotto fight to try and sign him on.

He let himself get humiliated and retired on a quit job for a percentage of Pac's future earnings? What are the numbers, show me a link. I wanna see how much Oscar's dignity costs.

He gets a share of Pacquiao's purses. Which is why they were calling the fight the promoter's fight instead of the dream fight.
