Kronk in all fights, although I'd hardly consider most of those guys to be true Kronk fighters.

 

I'm like you, when I think of real trainers and gyms I think of the guys like George Washington in Bed-Stuy who trained Bowe, Breland, and many more through the amateurs, and Adrian Davis in DC who had a hand in training most of the DC area fighters, and Mack Lewis in Baltimore who trained Rahman, Middleton, Pettway, etc. I'm sure most cities have somebody like that, those are just 3 that come to mind. There are a lot of trainers who are more famous than those guys, but the fighters and people in boxing know and respect the guys like Washington, Davis, and Lewis.

Those are the guys who teach the fighters fundamentals, and correct them when they are learning. They are not famous, just respected. All of the trainers mentioned are gone now, but I'm sure there are people who learned from them who have taken their place. I watched and listened to a private video recently of a 50s-60s fighter who trained at times at the 5th St. gym in Miami. He chuckled about Angelo Dundee and said, "all he could do for a fighter is towel off the sweat between rounds." Nobody says that about the guys like Washington, Davis, and Lewis.

 

Regardless of what we can say about Cus’a short comings as a trainer in the style he taught and the limited champions he created. He still created I believe three distinct fighters with his own study. Cus taught Patterson, Tyson and Torres how to hold there hands, I think however Tyson was a collaborative effort? So maybe only two, anyways. Not many guys can say they created two lineal champions from the ground up- though Torres boxed in the army…

 

Jeffy Fenech was there too for a time.
