Round 1

van Heerden is spearing the forehead of Claggett with the southpaw jab. Claggett is stepping in, setting himself, and reaching with his left jab once anchored. van Heerden is finding it easy to outbox his man early, ducking and pressing his right knuckle guard against his own hairline to screen out Claggett's jabs on the back of his glove. van Heerden is floating a triple-jab, altering the hardness of it to confuse his foe, and circling to find an opening for the left cross. 1-2 by van Heerden penetrating Claggett's defenses. Claggett sallies in going for the body and van Heerden rides the assault, backpedaling and countering with jabs. Uppercut shoeshine on the lower chest by van Heerden, up on his toes and cutting right.

This color commentator is very annoying. First he arrogantly states that 10-10 rounds are "like unicorns: some believe in them, some think maybe they saw one sometime, but they don't exist" :roll:, and then he says he gave the 1st to Claggett on "effective punching"? :blood

2-0 CVH, working head and body in succession and staying beneath Claggett's line of fire, moving constantly.

 

Sean Wheelock and Kevin Kelley have the most ridiculous rationale for having Claggett up 3-0. "Regardless of who's landing more, and we don't have a graphic prepared with stats to go by right now anyway, but if the connects seem close you have to look at who is being the aggressor, or at cage control which can also be called ring generalship..."

What a load of misinformed drivel. :-(

 

Wheelock (apparently used to be an MMA commentator) has an excuse, but the Flushing Flash is really disappointing with how much it seems he DKSAB tonight.

 

Round 4

van Heerden is jabbing lightly into Claggett's guard and then hunkering down and working the body with soft flurries and harder can-openers. Lunging jabs by Claggett, putting on earmuffs after missing and diving in on van Heerden. Controlled shoves and tiptoeing steps by van Heerden to get into position to dig into Claggett's flanks with underhanded combos.

Kelley has it 40-37 Claggett, scoring the first even. (which Sean Wheelock gave him a hard time for, otherwise agreeing with him)

 

Round 5

van Heerden is switching to orthodox while navigating in the pocket, turning Claggett. van Heerden dribbling straight combos off Claggett's guard and upper skull, leading with the left or right jab depending on stance. Claggett is prying him off with his left arm before swinging over and down with the right, nailing van Heerden above the eyes a few times.

6-0 CVH. Kelley finally giving him credit now, gave him the sixth.

 

Round 7

van Heerden is stepping in and landing right jabs, left uppercuts, and double-pumped right jabs to punctuate as he withdraws from the pocket. Claggett is forcing the pace and taking some fully loaded swings but van Heerden is moving too slickly and keeping him at bay with light combos in counter. The most contact made by Claggett is grazing van Heerden with hair-brushing jabs or getting a piece of his latissimi with the left hook.
