What Ward did tonight was impressive and amazing. That said Chad has taken
shots from Adamek, Glen, Tarver, Pascal, etc.... and has always bounced back.
He looked dead and drawn in the fight, He had no snap on his punches, he barely
threw punches. Ward was hurting him the entire fight. He probably had nothing
left. Still it shouldn't take away from what Ward accomplished, he showed his
skillset and then some. Chad is still one of my favorite boxers, I have no shame
    in admitting it

I thought it was fine that he quit, there was no way he could have won that fight in the next two rounds. He was eventually going to get knocked the f out in the next round any ways. Most of us on here would probably quit the first 10 seconds.

An fan who was at the fight posted this on another boxing forum -

I spoke briefly with Steve Smoger after the fight and asked him what dawson said before he stopped the fight... He asked chad "what do you want me to do?" and chad said " get me the f*ck outta here."

He was completely lethargic the whole fight, plus frequently on unsteady legs against a guy who's got no reputation for being a puncher. Both point to a weakened physical state, almost certainly from being weight drained. I don't think he'd have beaten Ward if they'd met at, say, 172 pounds so he didn't have to strip himself down so much but we'd have seen a better performance. I'm not a fan of Chad Dawsons but he's a better fighter than that.

Chad is a brave fighter who had the balls to fight in Ward's home town as 168. To say he has a glass heart is just ignorant on the OP. Dawson's mistake is going down to 168. He had no energy or strength. At his best, he's a great fighter. This was a great fight for Ward, and he did what he had to do, but let's be clear that Dawson was certainly in a weakened state.

Yes but the gulf between the two fighters isn't as great as last nights one sided battering suggests.
