Thanks for posting the article, mate. Dawson seems like a tough person to deal with, which is a shame because he is a terrific fighter at times. He's had his ups and downs but when he retires, he'll go down as one of the best 175lbers of the modern day. I just wish we could see a fully focused, determined Dawson every fight because at his best, there aren't many fighters who'd beat him.

Dawson made a lot of bad decisions, starting with going to 168. Maybe you could send him a mirror for his birthday. He doesn't seem to have one that works.

How bad was the Miranda "KD". I've heard the word "twitching" from a reliable source.

NO, I have to say, in all fairness to Chad, that is NOT TRUE. He went down, it was a good shot, he caught Chad backing up with his hands down, but Chad kept sparring after. And they sparred again two days later and Chad had a great day of work. There was no KNOCKOUT, no "twitching", that is a lie, trust me..

Thanks for the honest interview, Iceman.
Good luck to your fighter "El Chino" in his next fight! I hope it does get televised.

That was a fascinating read John. Thanks for giving your side.
I know big Floyd tried to make a joke out of it, but I definitely think Chad has emotional issues when it comes to dealing with people appropriately.
I know we're on different time zones but there's a few things I'd like to ask if you come back on.
Were you comfortable with the initial decision to fight at 168 given you had an idea of Chad's training for previous fights?
As a sort of "old school" method guy, would you have been looking for him to be comfortable at 170 by Monday or Tuesday, given the amount of "specialists" on the team?
And given you've had your character unfairly called into question, did you have a sinking feeling going into the ring given the events of the training camp?

Thanks for posting this Iceman. I thought Chad was a potential future P4P number 1 after the Adamek fight, seems the main thing that's stopped him getting there is his mentality.

    Appreciate the insight.

I still wonder how the Ward fight would've went down at 175?

Ill definitely come back and answer these later, I just have some things to do here today first...stayed tuned. I will say this for now before I head out for a while...my first initial reaction was to NOT go down to 168 (has ANY top fighter ever done it successfully?) but I was assured that it would be no problem, I was given the reasons why and they seemed to make sense...but, as i said in the article, after 5 weeks in camp with them I KNEW it was being done wrong and I certainly made my concerns known but they fell on deaf ears. Im not saying I'm a genius or anything, either, but after a certain number of years in this game some things are just kind of obvious, u know?

    A question John,
Do you think it was possible with a competant S&C coach that Chad could have gone down, or do you chalk it up to a S&C coach who was clearly out of his depth and Chad simply outgrowing the division?

Never should've went to 168 in the first place.

Ice, you are a man. You're always stand up and seemingly always around to answer questions. Appreciate it...

I like Scully but I'm not so sure he was a good match with Dawson. They seemed to have no plan B against Andre Ward. Changing trainers is always part of a fighter rebuilding himself after a devastating loss. Chad needs change however he can take it.

Ice is a solid trainer so he'll have plenty of other fighters to keep him busy.
