He clearly won 6 to me,you could give him 7 thus winning but it's hardly clear. That fight could have been a draw very easy but if anybody won it was Dawson,Johnson started to late

I think if you asked the majority on this site who won out of johnson and dawson the majority would back johnson.
Plus Calzaghe has had terrible injury problems, but lets remember calzaghe beat omar sheika who was coming off a win against johnson.
So is calzaghe was afraid of facing a dangerous fighter why would he fight omar sheika, jeff lacy who was being hailed as the next tyson, kessler who throws bombs and was the favourite going into a fight with calzaghe, then calzaghe went in against Hopkins in hopkins own backyard and risked losing his unbeaten record.
Come off it will you it was just unfortunate that injuries have plagued calzaghe, and I would love to see how a hopkins, jones jr, mayweather, de la hoya would have coped with brittle hands like calzaghe has had to.
To remain unbeaten for all this time and beaten the fighters he has using all styles of boxing is remarkable.
Its the reason that Calzaghe hasnt been able to knock people out like he used to his hands became terrible.
Other boxers wouldnt have been as good with those problems to deal with.

You could say Joe lost to an old Hopkins. The pitty pat arm punches didn't impress me too much. If Hopkins had a bit of youth about him he could have shut Joe out.

Mayweather has notoriously brittle hands. He injures them in just about every fight. He fought the latter stages of the Augustus fight with one hand, and most of the Carlos Hernandez figh with one hand. Despite this, and despite the fact that he has fought in 5 different weight classes, he's stil been able to register legit stoppages in 4 of the weight classes at which he has fought.

didn't joe duck johnson? i don't care if calzaghe never fights again but dawson is the 'other man' at lhw with his clear win over tarver (and the close controversial win over johnson). so there is a clear recognizable challenger out there for calzaghe who shows no signs of slowing down.

on another note, american's don't dis calzaghe solely because he's weslh (or non american). one need only look at US reaction to Lennox Lewis - he was respected here though he got a slightly harder time b/c of his 'cheeky' accent. calzaghe's so hard for non UK fight fans to like IMO because of his irritating personality (see his smiling *** like showboating vs rjj and hopkins) and his boxing style which often looks like a limp wristed pillow fighter (even tho i know his shots aren't without some power).

Joe doesn't have to fight anyone. His legacy is secure. But it's also true that Joe's very best wins were against a 43 yr old Bhop and a 40 yr old Roy Jones...both whom showed signs of diminished reflexes and skills. While Chad did struggle against Johnson he still pulled out a "W". He made up for a lack luster preformance by dominating Tarver whom beat Johnson. If Joe wants to shut up critics he'll fight Chad b/c Chad is a Young champion in his prime and looking to face the Welshman.

To compare Lacy to CHad is pretty funny. Chad has many more layers and demensions than Jeff and there is no disputing that. Joe's toughest challenge at this point and including the rest of his career would be Chad Dawson. THe Speed, combination, skills and youth are big obstacles that Joe hasn't had to face yet....he's beaten the old legends in the game...now it's time to see if he can beat a young lion.....IF, he really wants to shut up the critics that is.

What I find so amazing is all these Dawson fans claim Dawson is so great and ripping Calzaghe.

Dawson has two good wins in his entire career, Johnson and Tarver. One of those fights most people thought Dawson lost. Really, Johnson and Tarver! They are far from young. But they are great wins for Dawson enough to make him PFP , and Calzaghe's recent fights are a disgrace. Go figure.

It was "sickening" for Calzaghe to showboat against Jones. Really, Roy Jones the most disrecptful showboat in boxing his entire career. Your double standards are amazing.

Hopkins wouldnt open up in that fight he prefeered to do dancing with the stars and do the tango with calzaghe.
Hopkins was just trying to nick the fight, he does it most of the time.
Hopkins just tried to make it a terrible fight and he succeeded but calzaghe was the agressor andthe judges saw that.
Hopkins didnt think Pavlik was anywhere near the class that calzaghe was so he changed his gameplan and dominated pavlik, now people say if only hopkins had done that to calzaghe.
    He couldnt do it because
1 He knew calzaghe would be too good in an open fight
2 He only fought pavlik like that because pavlik is one dimensional

And if Hopkins thinks people want to see him grab onto joe for 12 rounds yet again he is sorely mistaken.

Adamek and Harding were also good wins. Let's not forget that Adamek was the WBC LHW champ and is one fight away from being the recognized champ at CW.

    Your so right !
Traver has been poor for some time and only won the title back off a terrible clinton woods who looked terrified of tarver.
And then you have an old johnson who calzaghe would have been ridiculed for fighting becasue johnson was too old, yet dawson has the name of dawson on his c.v like a badge of honour! go figure

No one should be ripping Joe...that's for sure. The last couple of years Joe has been answering questions that have been HUGE issues throughout his career. With that said.....to put things in perspective, Chad is just a baby compared to Joe when talking about Pro Ring experience....yet Chad has faced two future Hall of fame fighters and beat both.

Joe has just recently faced Bhop and Roy Jones and earlier on he beat Chris Eubanks.......Point being CHad is moving quicker in securing legacy building fights, building on his resume with meaningful oppoents and marching up the ladder to the level's ELITEs. Joe vs Chad is a good fight and it is the MOST meaningful fight in Joe's career if he were to accept the challenge. Sure Chad doesn't have the resume of a Bhop or Roy Jones but he definitley has the skills, talent and ability to continue to make big waves in boxing and potentially reach that level.......Joe is a step in the right direction.
