Chagaev Fighting Povetkin For The Regular WBA Belt

The WBA regular title is the normal title belt for the WBA, However when they feel they can make profit of a fighter because of his popularity they elevate the champion to Super Champion and give them some sort of ring magazine rip off thus leaving the regular belt vacant to give to another fighter so they can have two world belts and gain money from sanctioning fees twice in the same division.

The Whole idea is pathetic and as far as i know Klitschko, Ward and Cotto are the only fighters at present to hold this piece of **** title as its only just been announced since the Ward-Green fight but it might stretch back further for all i know.

The title they are fighting for is nonsense, and I don't recognize it as anything. The ONLY title for that org is now in Wlad's possession. Period.

But Povetkin vs Chagaev is a great matchup and should be a very competitive fight, assuming Chagaev can get his old form back.

I hope Chagaev exposes Povetkin.

 

The title is a joke, but the fight itself is interesting. Chagaev has been in a downhill but Povetkin has had his share of problems too.

I think Povetkin will score a UD win.

I'd really like Sasha to give it go against Wlad in the near future also.

 

But what's the point. Wlad is the super WBA champion, which means he's lineal. I mean, I guess it sort of counts considering Chagaev should've been the real WBA champion, but even then Wladimir beat the **** out of him.

Hate the politics, love the fight. Hopefully Sasha looks good and it leads to Povetkin-Wlad.

I've given up trying to figure out how the WBA works, but if he can get Povetkin considered as a mandatory defense, then making Povetkin-Klitschko would kill 2 birds with one stone- taking out one of his top contenders and satisfying a mandatory.

 

Thanks for the info. Hopefully the "new blood" will get to the scene soon so we stop having guys avoiding risks until there 30 plus and only stepping up when they get a belt or elimininator etc. Plus they can hopefully save us from the utter lackluster division for the past 7 or so years.


I like Povetkin - Chagaev cuz it should hopefully set the loser back about 5 steps so we can stop considering both as contenders. This will be Povetkin's biggest test since Chambers in what 2007 or 2008? Hopefully at least one of these guys will show some renewed form (tho it's very doubtful w chagaev who's good form is hard to identify anyway aside from the activity and medical issues)

 

I'm not even sure Povetkin wins it at this point. Chagaev's had a rough couple of years but he's also nearly four times smarter than Povetkin, in terms of ring IQ (scientifically tested at Caxap University). Povetkin should win, but...
