Whoever wins this 'fight' (farce), will milk the regular WBA belt with 'defenses' against guys like Tank Williams or Audley Harrison. Then get a nice fat payday against Wlad. Quite ridiculous if you ask me.

Oquendo is the kind of tough customer that Brit hypes don't want anything of, Chag also, they don't want to risk glass chins and paychecks.

well you're missing Wlad's wins over Haye and Povetkin for the WBA belt over Haye and "WBA reunification" over Povetkin

The WBA though steadfastly sought to keep themselves away from the Klitschkos, having a love affair with John Ruiz and Nikolay Valuev. Chagaev got screwed out of the WBA title because Valuev's promoter won the purse bid and put Valuev's challenge for the title in a place that would not medically clear Chagaev for his medical condition making Chagaev "champion in recess", and when Chagaev fought Wlad in 2009 it resulted in the WBA stripping him so the WBA would not have their belt go to Wlad. Then there was the David Haye bull****...

I guess all you have to do for a title shot in the WBA is feast on some mediocre journeymen for 5 or 6 fights, then VOILA, title shot! I mean, shouldn't you have to fight an actual contender to get a world title shot?

Fres Oquendo has never been a good fighter. EVER.

just think....these two totally shot guys....one who is fat and flabby and has beat NO ONE in years while the other is in his 40s with zero power and is the most boring heavyweight ever next to Ruiz are gonna be fighting for the same title that ali and joe frazier actually fought for when they were both undefeated
you cant make this stuff up

According to Fightnews, the fight might be off, because the promoter of Oquendo seems to disagree with the way the fight was getting made.

Chagaev while ranked top 3 with the WBA beat the WBA then number 5 Pudar in his last fight. People seem to overlook that. Got a problem with Pudar being ranked 5th? Take it up with the WBA.

Chagaef and oquendo are still very good fighters, we complain of hype jobs yet we think they are more ,viable options for titles than true and tested fighters

In defence of the WBA belt--eventually someone decent has to get ahold of it.

This fight is merely an eliminator to set up a fight with either Povetkin or Wilder.

After all, Povetkin/Charr are telling the media that the winner gets Stiverne while the WBC has already announced that Stiverne fights Wilder next. So only one fight can happen. I won't be suprised if Wilder steps aside so the more experienced Povetkin can have a go at a legit title. Either Povetkin or Wilder will then fight for the WBA belt to get in line for the next shot at Wlad in 2015.

Fine but that was never a better scalp than even shot Barrett.

Pudar is maybe top fifty in reality.

    Maybe.
