If WK couldn't take a punch he'd be out of this sport a long time ago. He surely can take a punch, but not every punch, credit to Sanders who owned a lethal and blindingly fast left hand. Brewster never actually put WK down with a punch, watch the replay, it was from exhaustion.

The same inbeciles said Lewis couldn't take a punch. In two fights Lewis got beat. But don't forget all his other fights. Same with WK, he got dropped in one fight, in two he punched himself out. Not bad record for a guy with over 50 HWT fights.

You are talking about punchers row here. I can't believe I am defending Wladimir's ability to take a punch but Williamson,Sanders,Peter,Brewster and yes Purrity are all big punchers. In defense of Ross, he won many of those fights according to most that watched them and he took most his fights on a few days notice. Yes he is a journeyman in the true since of the word but he is a very tough one.

It is ignorant to say Wlad has the "worst chin in boxing". This is just something the haters like to focus on. If Wlad has a bad chin, then so does any fighter who has ever been knocked down.

Lewis was only knocked out twice, Wlad's been knocked out 3 times by lesser opponents. Lewis has only been down twice, Wlad has been down 11 times+. Lewis fought the best of one the greatest decades of Heavyweights, Wlad is currently fighting in some peoples minds, the worst division of all-time.

Lewis has by far the better chin, and was willing to engage with his oppenents, dangerous puncher or not. Wlad will never try to go to war with an oppenent, his chin and mental physche is too weak to do that. Thats why when things get rough he clinches, panics, and falls to the canvas numerous times.

With Williamson it was more of a flash knockdown when Wlad was off balance. With Peter, it was due to illegal punches (unlike the ones McCline put him on his ass with).

Dude, it is hard to say. When Wlad gets knocked down, he gets up (and wins in some cases). When Lewis was down, he didn't even know where he was in both occasions.

Point taken but my post still stands. We are not talking about fighters that can not punch.

Sanders is a big puncher, I will give you that. Peter is a big puncher, but if you watch when he fought Wlad he barely landed anything big, it was mostly the pressure he put on Wlad that made him melt to the canvas. Williamson made him panic at times, and did catch with some decent blows. Though the punch he did catch Wlad with to floor him, it was more because Wlad was off balance. Brewster is a good puncher, but the fact he made Wlad's legs buckle from under him in the 3rd round from just a jab, made me laugh, as did RJJ at how weak Wlad's chin truly is.

I mean we can say some of the fighters that hurt Wlad had power, but so did Bruno, Briggs, Morrison, Ruddick, Golota, Tua, Tyson, Marovic, Mercer, Vitali etc... Lewis took most of these fighters best punches and still was left standing, I personally dont see Wlad getting through half of these guys, especially if they landed clean on Wlad's weak chin, do you?

:rofl WBOGUS is not legit, both of these guys were nobodies until they KO'd Wlad, Douglas who beat Tyson was considered a journeymen even though he was a ranked contender who beat McCall and had already fought Tucker for a world title coming into his fight with Tyson. What had Brewster, Purrity & Sanders done coming into thier fights with Wlad?

Some of you noobs are hilarious with these threads, you guys make it sound like as soon as someone taps Wladimir on the chin he's going to hit the deck. :patsch

The guy has a good chin, yeah he has been floored before but most of these knockdowns had a lot to do with balance rather than him being seriously hurt/wobbly. The guy can take a punch when needed and till I see someone knock him down or seriously hurt him his chin is fine in my book. NO not the greatest but not glass either.

It was Chagaev's best punch of the fight. Wlad wasn't ready for it because it was after the bell, but took it pretty well.

Your "stats" don't take into account of the flash knockdowns, illegal punches, or going down from exhaustion.

Good post!! These haters don't seem to know the difference between a flash knockdown and actually being hurt with a punch. He may not have the best chin but it certainly isn't the worst either.
