They're going through a shake up of their management at Channel 5. Realistically boxing is WAY down their agenda in the overall scheme of things and there's probably no one in a position to sign off a deal at the moment.
ITV said the same thing when they pulled out. Khan v Mallignaggi the only foght they have shown in some years.
Shame to hear the fights aren't bringing in enough viewers although could easily place the fault with the poor marketing.
Strange that they don't put more on considering the amount of viewers they get. Was it 3-5 million for Fury? The key for them is not to clash with sky or BoxNation, which they did with DeGale.
They probably are going to cut it. All they really had to lean on was Chris Eubank Jr. Most of the cards took place in venues of barely 1-2000 people. Just not worth the hassle for them im guessing.
don't think they have done a card with Fury, Degale, Eubank and Galahad on. maybe 5 would broadcast a show with all the names on but that might not be viable for Hennessy.
@johnhoolan We are not pulling out of boxing, and we are currently in talks for the Tyson Fury fight in April
Mick's stable is the only one on 5. Having degale and fury double heasders might be more enticing from the execs point of view, but he would have to get degale, Galahad etc. Fighting abroad as well I would think.
I think Fury and DeGale will stay on Five whilst Eubank and Galahad switch and go to Hearn. Five probably don't want to lose Fury now.
