We must have been watching a different fight because I didn't see anything from either fighter to suggest there could be about to be a ko. Both guys were far too cautious, unless something drastic was about to change I think the fight would of gone the distance.
Thanks for starting this thread. The IBF for sanctioning this is an utter disgrace to boxing. Charles Martin by virtue of the IBF is the weakest and most undeserving "champion" in the history of the sport. Czar Glaskov should also never be given a shot at the title again for accepting this as a "title" fight. :verysad
Martin was dominating, and it was painfully obvious by Glaz body movement that he wanted no part of Martin, it looked like Glaz was becoming more and more afraid as the fight progressed. It would have only been a matter of time. Martin is deserving of the win. He will prove to be a very good fighter and beat most top 10.
Martin was winning. Glaskov's body language was that of a beaten man, and from the middle of the second rd it looked obvious that Martin was going to win, but I disagree that Martin will be a very good fighter or beat MOST in the top 10. I personally like Martin. He's got serious power, decent skills, and great size. But I can't see him beating anyone but Scott and Tarver in the top 10. :-(
yes i agree with the way you saw it. thats what i think the ref thought as well. the ref followed glazkov to his corner issuing a count bizzare as the ref was six foot away when it happened and martin had not thrown a punch for a few seconds so i am unsure what the ref saw. he then stopped counting and asked i think does he (glaskov ) want to continue . i know in american football you have replays to see if decisions need to be overturned. in english football if a ref misses something during a game a review of the incident is made by a panel and either overturned or not. in boxing i can thinki of a few precidents where they overturned ref decisions .although i remember marlon starling being starched after the bell and that result stood. my own view is that if a fighter hurts his himself and the opponent is not at fault tough he loses, but IBF rules state otherwise.
yes glazkov wantd out when the ref asked him to continue , but the ref either did not know the rules of the fight that he was refferee off ,or he thinks he saw the punch , which i think happened , that replays showed that martin did not attempt to throw.
Glazkov lost the first round. The second round was close could have went either way. Martin was coming on strong in the third, he was lighting Glazkov up with the left. Glazkov realized he was in there with someone who was far better and hit far harder than he expected. He hurt his knee, he realized he was about to get dropped or KO'd anyway, he quit. Its NOT Charles Martin's fault this happen, he's the champ get over it.
Well he was beating one of the top ranked guys in Glazkov for arguably 3 rounds he was in control and starting beat him down, Glazkov quit, he's the Champ get over it. Joseph Parker is a prospect too, but if you put him in the a top ranked guy, he'd probably beat them too. Martin went from being a prospect to a champion last night.
He would've beaten Glazkov anyway, that much was becoming clear even before the ankle twisted. So unless you don't rate Glazkov anywhere close to how much the rest of the world does, Martin is both de jure championship material by virtue of having technically obtained the IBF belt, and de facto by having proven his mettle h2h (or at least showed enough to extrapolate that he could've/would've gone on to do so) with a top ranked contender.
He merely holds 1 of the many titles fur the formality of Fury being stripped of the IBF and his Polish opponent injuring himself Strange and undeserved but that's boxing ; No one gives these trivial single titleholders much merit anyway I don't even view that clown Wilder as s HW "champion". To call Martin and Wilder "champions" dilutes the term
We were only 3 rounds in and it was too close to say with any certainty that Chearles would have won that fight had it not been for his injury.
