Good fight this on the Burns undercard, anybody see Yates pulling off an upset or is Flynn going to make a statement?
You going Flynn then? I've only really saw Yates on Bellew undercard in fact I've only really saw Flynn in Commonwealth Games just wondered if strength and experience of the 10 rounds might make it closer than expected
you could be right, I'm not sold on charlie flynn tbh. he won the commonwealth gold and gave a great wee interview after it but i have watched him struggle badly at the scottish open championships and against lewis paulin he was very very lucky that the timekeeper rang the bell early or he was getting stopped maybe this fight is going to show if charlie has improved enough at if he can reach a decent level as a professional.
Paulin the Super Feather? Im just guessing with Yates moving down and seemingly having a good engine he may at least make it difficult over the 2nd half, im not sure how good Farrell is but he really had to dig deep against Yates at times
aye mate paulin the super featherweight. lewis had him out and was about to finish the fight before the timekeeper rang the bell at with at least a minute to go in the round. kind of put paulin off a bit and charlie managed to scrape through with a bit dodgy judging haha
I wouldn't have expected that although I seem to remember hearing a few of the big names got lucky in those championships with one eye on CWG
Not been all that impressed with Flynn since he turned pro. Hope he proves me wrong as he's obviously an entertaining guy and would be good for the sport if his ability in the ring matches his charisma out of it. I think these are the sorts of fights that he'll come unstuck before he's even got to British level though, unfortunately.
stephen tiffany was another one that was given a very dodgy decision against joe ham, there was also lots of people saying that sam ball should have got the nod against josh taylor too.
I heard about Taylor, although if im honest he seems to be head and shoulders the best prospect in Scotland, that's not to say on the day that he didn't get a gimme. Benson had to box off to go I think?
he boxed at 69 kg because josh was at 64kg and I'm pretty sure you are right. benson was another one that seemed to get favourable decision at the nationals, really don't expect him to do anything as a professional but he is young enough to prove me wrong josh has improved so much since hooking up with shane mcguigan and it really shows that he is fighting dave ryan in his next fight for the commonwealth title
Oh yeah both from same gym aren't they? Again not saw a lot of Benson just hear about him I think Taylor will beat Ryan well BUT again Ryan has some fair old results on his record
lewis still trains with terry but josh is now trained by shane mcguigan, I'm sure that josh will still train there when he isn't with shane though an that could help benson. Imo josh will dispose of dave ryan pretty easily, although dave is strong and game its about levels and josh is love;s above
