Only big loser is Showtime. Do you know how much the advertising space and costs involved with putting on a PPV event. Espinosa’s bosses will not be happy at not seeing a return on something with so much effort. You can’t run a business on breaking even with PPV as PBC or Showtime forever. Someone will eventually expect a profit. What was the last PBC PPV that turned a profit that didn’t include floyd. Can’t just Houdini everyone forever that a big PPV star is on the way. It’s been years weve been told Charlos, Spence and Gervonta have been touted as the next big PPV star but fighting once a decade each its taking its time. Also international TV rights were almost non existent. Wasn’t even broadcast in UK one of the biggest boxing markets around
Even if the made a profit, it would be marginal at best. Someone is bound to notice that SHO Boxing ratings have been on a decline for years now. Espinoza´s deal with PBC has ****ed SHO over. That weasel is basically stealing money for PBC. I would bet one of my nuts that he really is there for PBC and not SHO. And he PPV was on Fite.tv for international viewers. Fite has a solid userbase and the PPV price was reasonable.
so two american brothers both champs on a combined ppv draw ggg numbers in america shucks lol not good imo
It sold 100,000 $75 PPVs in the U.S. The fight also aired on FITE TV (internationally), on XSPORT in the Ukraine, on ESPN in Latin America, on Fox Sports in Australia, on RMC Sport in France, on TVONE in Indonesia, on WowWow in Japan, on Khabar in Kazakhstan, on TVP Sport in Poland, on S Sport+ in Turkey and on Match TV in Russia. I'm sure they made more than 50K total from the 10 international markets they sold a six-hour sporting event to. (LOL) They only release the U.S. PPV numbers, and people do a little simple math and act like they know all the money an event made. It's comical.
You always say that Castillo and Madiana beat Mayweather a$$, those were close fights to? So I guess you didn't watch those fights too...
I think it's fair to say that lobk and Trafford are better at analyzing the financials of boxing events than Al could ever dream of.
Just cause they air it doesn’t mean they made decent money on the event. You know what also gets aired? Woman basketball. Just cause it’s on doesn’t mean anyone is watching. It’s also early morning for most of Europe and you can forget the asian market demand for this. Yes this crap lost money is the speculation.
Yes I watched both several times Both of them made Floyd try to FIGHT!!! He couldnt do it. He made the ludicrous excuse in Castillo 1 that he had a torn rotator cuff . You know the one Ellerbe cured with his caresses ROFL All Floyd could do with Maidana was run & hold as usual. After the fight Floyd's words were" Maidana roughed me up, beat me up & bullied me it wasn't fair the ref did nothing to stop him" ROFLMAO Someone ought to have told Floyd This is the FIGHT GAME its YOUR job to stop your opponent bullying you NOT the referees. But they fixed it for the rematch Kenny Bayless was brought in to protect Floyd It was blatant Maidana wasnt given a chance to fight
This is about what I thought it would be, there were a lot of things going against this PPV (pandemic) and them specifically. They aren't really PPV attractions yet and were never built up to be so this isn't really horrible. In perspective, Golovkin who was given an enormous boost in a good boxing climate and was the "supposed" next big thing only sold 140,000 in his first PPV, so what do people realistically expect?
I think one of the reason they didn’t show it on Fox was the 6 hours total between all the fights. Boxing is not that popular where a station can dedicate that kind of a block to just boxing. That was very poor planning on PBC part. They should have just showcase the twins back to back or with just one fight in between. They would have been exposed to millions of viewers instead of the limited PPV viewers. With covid keeping most people at home on a Saturday night , people will tune in for a free fight. Also put the fight on after a big college game. these guys should be getting exposure to build fan base instead of Headlining PPV.
