I had it 5-4 Charlo, the first 5 or 6 rounds were really close and hard to score, I had Charlo winning the last 3 rounds of the fight. I've no problem with a 6-3 card for Charlo but that was not a 7-2 fight much less 8-1. That's just ridiculous
I had it 6-3 and think 7-2 is okay. The problem with 8-1 is that the judge didn't give Castano round 6, which imo was his best round.
Round 6 was a good round for Castaño, arguably his best, but Charlo did land 2 big shots on Castaño in the last 30 seconds, one of them appearing to wobble Castaño. I could see how a judge could have thought Charlo may have stole the round with those late shots especially since Castaño was stunned from one of them, but Castaño was clearly controlling and winning that round going into those last 30 seconds.
That's par for the course. I new outside of a ko, Castano had no chance. The Charlo's are equivalent to the Canelo twins if there was such a thing.
Haha, I can’t tell if you’re joking or not but you just listed the most beneficial advantages for fighting that fighters wish they had
While that scorecard was a bit lopsided for my taste, let's not lose sight of two salient points: 1) Charlo ended the fight decisively 2) at least the judges had the right man ahead on the cards as Charlo was absolutely winning that fight.
I had the fight dead even twice but Charlo starting sweeping the final rounds until he took care of business. Great fight and way closer than the judges scorecards
I'm obviously not joking. Anthony Joshua is the greatest example. All he has are the attributes i mentioned above. We all know how it ended against the first really good and skilled boxer. Jermell Charlo is taking advantage of a very weak division overall and still arguably lost two of his last six.
Haha, Joshua is another great example how far those things can take you. I’m not really high on the Charlo brothers either and can admit that 154 is a somewhat weak division but I can’t deny that they are good boxers, regardless of their skill they do win fights and are in some exciting fights. I much rather watch them (and AJ) then any boring technical fighter that only try to win on points.
Judges are doing their job the wrong way if they give sympathy rounds. A competitive fight can, in fact, be scored correctly with wide cards. Clean, effective punching trumps all. If you dont like it, take it up with the scoring system, not the judges.
I don't think Charlo was throwing enough to win many rounds until Round 7 (i had him down 4-2)... Actually, I think his whole strategy was to throw away rounds and let BC wear himself out enough to let one of those bombs in, which eventually worked out... Corrupt judging takes away the suspense of such strategies or come from behind wins.
