Brian Vera Called him out. ( Look it up )
Marco Antonio Rubio Called him out ( Look it up)
Bob Arum wants Saul Alvarez to fight him. ( Look it up )

He has a fight in September and one in November ( View Boxrec ). Bottom line is he fought like 40 fights and the best guy on his resume is John Duddy and Sabastian Zbik you should fight the big guys calling you out ( Vera, Rubio, Canelo).

Who do you want him in the ring with in Sept and Nov.

Well he isn't fighting Martinez, you can bet on that.

I'd guess they'll go for someone with some name recognition who won't pose much of a threat. Manfredo and Vera seem to fit the bill.

Maybe Rubio or Lee will get a shot or someone moving up from 154.

Even though he's a paper champion and I don't expect him to fight the top guys, he can't keep fighting scrubs forever.

I don't see why he'd fight Lee or Rubio when he doesn't fancy Vera or Manfredo Jr.

A bunch of ****ing morons in this forum......A Sergio Martinez fight will not happen anytime soon. Chavez Jr. is'nt ready for that level.

......and what is this, "He needs a harder fight"??????
Chavez just came off a hard fight against Zbik where he had his hands full and had to dig deep to pull it out.
.....Chavez does'nt need a harder fight, for as long as he can get away with it, he needs to defend against just the caliber of opponent that Zbik was at.

.....an opponents a little better than Zbik is fine, having to dig deep and passed the test against Zbik could have only made Chavez better, but certainly going from Zbik to Martinez would be to big a climb in class.

So you think he'll vacate the belt to avoid Martinez?

He has to fight someone at that level though. Clearly he's not ready for the best guys, and maybe he never will be, but he can't hope to improve if he fights guys lower on the food chain than Vera or Manfredo.

Remember who Jrs. ****ing promoter is....honest Bob will bribe an official to avoid Chavez from getting stripped for not defending against Martinez, it happens all to frequently in boxing.

Last resort Chavez Jr. will find a way to buy time even if it means getting stripped.

The bottom line here is that this is'nt a case of fearing Martinez, its simply a case of Chavez just not being ready to move up to Martinez' level.

I'd say it will be at least 18 months before Chavez can even contemplate a Martinez fight......by that time, if Chavez has passed his tests, Martinez at his age might be ready to be taken.

Honestly, I could easily see a semi rejuvenated Jermaine Taylor Knocking him out in style, Hell failed prospects like Kirkland and Lemieux have a legit shot at becoming world champ if they can get a fight with Jr.

I thought the same but you can hear it here straight from the horses mouth that it's either Martinez of vacate after his next fight.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCLZnDHnZrM[/ame]

    I think he'll vacate myself.

It's exactly a case of fear. He'll have 44 fights under his belt by the time would be facing Martinez. Let's call a spade a spade eh.

18 months is a long time, a lot can happen between now and then.
