Exactly. Cut all this bollocks out about how he just trains hard with Ariza and Roach. All fighters train that hard. If they trained as hard as Pacquiao says he does their bodies would be ****ed.

Working out your neck muscles improves your chin (Chavez didn't really look like he had a better chin, did you even watch the fight? he was rocked in the 6th round). Hard sparring, getting used to getting hit, that also improves your chin.

Proper strength training can give you more power.

    Plyometrics can improve your speed.

Long distance running improves your stamina.

a good conditioning coach will cover all these bases over several weeks. No PEDS needed.

theres a difference between training hard and training smart.

joshua clottey trains hard, runs marathons etc

shane mosley trains smart, anaerobic conditioning, nutrition, plyometrics.

I know but Pacquiao claims to eat and burn around 6000/7000 calories a day which is just silly.

You're new to boxing.... Manny is NOT the only fighter to move up effectively and dominate. GREATS before him have all done so. Manny just made history therefore his accomplishments are being noted by the masses.

He isn't as fast as he was at 122..LOL:lol:...He's stronger yes...that's to be expected. His power is better...that's to be expected...but his opponents are bigger and Manny is still getting KO's which is impressive. Although he's really only had ONE KO...the rest were stoppages like most of his other wins.

Manny has always had incredible speed and stamina even before coming to the states. And anyone who wants Manny to take the tests based on what Floyd said are clearly just Floyd fanatics who are buying into the BS Floyd created as a way of avoiding the challenge Manny presents.

I mean you look at what he was caught using to MAKE weight in his last fight in which he was suspended and a ****** would be able to come up witht he results. When you don't train properly you don't get the most potential out of your body physically. If you are not TAUGHT correctly the sweet science you won't get the most out of your ability.

JR is getting the best training and education in the sweet science and the results are obvious. An easy excuse for Jr's improvement is to do what Floyd did with manny in order to avoid facing him....lable him a cheat.:rofl

IDK about you sometimes PHILLA. You seem to be knowledgable on the sport of boxing but when it comes to Manny thats when B.S. starts to come out of your mouth. This all would be true if Pac from your own mouth wasn't fighting so far above his natural weight. You always talk about how small Pac is even against mayweather.

When you gain weight above your maximum weight muscles or fat it slows you down for sure. The more weight you put on whether muscles or fat also takes away from your stamina its just natural because your carrying more weight then your body can to be at maximum operating force. It just looks suspicous and then on top of that Pac had a chance to prove the **** false and said he was afraid needles LOL give me a break.

Where I am from when someone's story is always changing they are lying aka giving you the run around to stay away from the truth. If Pac's story didn't change so much he wouldn't look as suspisous as he does period.

he doesn't claim to burn that much, which even if he did wouldn't be surprising for a boxer, he eats that much to maintain lean mass.

bernard hopkins was under a similar diet when he was training under mackie shilstone.

Not really.:verysad The pace and extreme nature of his camps easily makes his statements reasonable. Guys like Manny who are TOP level athletes that go through the rigors of preparations have to eat a lot and burn a lot especially if they are building UP musucle to bulk up. Michael Phelps would eat between 12,000 and 14,000 calories a day while training for the olympics of course he's a lot bigger so that is understandable.

And that's why Manny's not as fast at 147 as he was at 122-126. You're the only one saying that he kept his speed, when the truth is that his hands aren't as fast anymore. Of course, as he's moved up in weight, Fortune, and then Ariza simply made sure that Manny retained as much speed as he could as he moved up.

FWIW, Pacquiao has not actually gained that much mass. He shows up to welterweight weigh-ins after meals and probably at least partially hydrated.

    wrong

it depends on the type of muscle you put on

sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (shannon briggs) slows you down and uses alot of oxygen, myofibrillar hypertrophy (mike tyson/holyfield) gives you explosive power and doesn't use as much oxygen.
