I think Jr. found out a few days back he wasn't going to be able to shed the last several pounds safely.
Its harder and un-healthy to shed the extra pounds when there is more muscle and less fat on your body.

I don't know divac. Hopefully what you say is true, but I have given JCCjr the beenfot of the doubt one too many times. I hope he proves me wrong, but I definitely won't be rooting for him.

He has missed weight so many time it’s beyond disgraceful. He just doesn’t care.

Really? Against who has Jr. missed weight against???

From what I understand, he's tested positive for diuretics to lose weight, but that I can remember this fight with Jacobs may be the first time he's missed weight for a fight.

I'm not defending Jrs actions, its my belief he cant make 168 lbs safely any longer and I stated so in a thread here days before Chavez missed weight for this fight.
Right or wrong, I'm just stating that if Jr. really wants to win and is serious about this fight, he is better off forking over 1million dollars to Jacobs and weighing over the originally agreed upon 168 lbs weight limit.

I'd certainly make Jacobs the favorite even as the weights stand now, but I do think Chavez has a legitimate chance of pulling the upset, especially now that he didn't even attempt to make 168 lbs.

Look at Chavez' jr. face at the weighin, even at almost 173 lbs he looks like he dehydrated to make even that.

If he continues his career after Jacobs, he's a damn fool if he even attempts to make anything under than 175 lbs again.

I have no expectations of a fighter like Chavez Jr.who's been undisciplined and never taken his training camps with the seriousness a real champion should take. But I am rooting for him. He is Julio Cesar Chavez' boy, and I'll be damned if my heart isn't into rooting for him after all the pleasure and good times watching Chavez Sr. fight brought to me and my family.

Bryan Vera in 2013, Marcos Reyes in 2015, and has had at least two fights changed to catchweights before the weigh-ins because he knew he wouldn’t make the weight.
