Stop ****ing quoting me then, you ****ing *****. What he said is stupid. And worrying coming from a boxing coach.
sorry , you are dead right, i confuse myself sometimes, god knows how other people work out what im onabout.atsch
I remembered this and had to bump it .It says on the rosstraining blog heavyweights struggle with the exercises smaller guys do . Inspiration for the heavyweights http://rosstraining.com/blog/2009/12/28/inspiration-for-the-heavyweights/
Many **** Heavyweights, or just in general **** athletes. Do you think David Haye can't do the type of training Amir Khan does...? I'm not even reading the article, i don't care what Ross is saying.
Mate, your kinda right, lets just say prime athletic guys can do the same as smaller guys, take Usain Bolt for example, there aint fuuck all that guy couldnt do compared with a small sprinter. But that is the extreme I suppose, 90% of heavyweights aint athletes (Haye, Holyfield apart) so DO struggle to do more explosive exercises. I cant see Chisora running up the hills like a billygoat, can you, although whether running uphill for long distances is actually beneficial to heavyweights is a completly different subject, I aint gonna go into that cause I would be here all night.
Well no, I wouldnt have a 16/17 stone heavyweight doing tons of plyometrics like Ariza gives Khan, as it would place enormous stress on the joints, almost inevitibley leading to injuries. Yes, all the usual exercises, the hill running, the sprints, all the usual boxing training and weights yes, you could train Haye like Khan, but not such a high volume of plyometrics. He'd get injured, and Haye is explosive. Training has to be specific to that fighter. Like Khan is explosive, and so you train his body as such. Plyometics, loads of sprints etc. Scott Harrison wasnt explosive, but was incredibly strong with a huge aerobic capacity, so you train him to maximise this. No point wasting loads of training time doing plyometrics if its not going to be effective.
I'd recommend getting a baseball bat, nailing it horizontally to a post, and then running head-first onto it a few hundred times to try to build up an immunity.
Thing is, to be explosive you have to train explosively, you can be born with more specific fibres but those that arent have to train the body correctly to be rapid. Dont like too much uphill running as this can slow you down if done wrong, especially heavyweights. All the best to the bigman, think he is gonna need it!!
