****ed if i know, but Mundine was interviewed on radio and he stated himself he didnt get anywhere near 5 mill dollars for the GReen fight.

I think his manager digs as deep as Don King, he just comes across as that type of bloke. Mundines boxing career would have earnt him a fair whack, my estimation would be anywhere from 7-15mill :huh

Remember that article Choc wrote in the Australian for the return match between Melbourne and St.George after Melbourne had won their first NRL crown the year before?
He basically claimed St.George were the real champs and Melbourne were pretenders who didn't deserve the title, how he was going to show them how a real champ performs.
Melbourne were not impressed and ended up winning 60 odd to nothing. St.George then canned Chocs weekly column in the Australian.

This is all irrelevant but i like bringing it up every now and then.

Remember it clearly, poor Choc was fighting against the hoodoo that is the St Merge Choke Syndrome.

To be fair, St George did reverse the result later in the season winning 60 something to nil.

But of course Choc had retired to take up another career by that stage...

Actually I'm an Aussie Rules man, I think he played a few but one of the reasons he gave on his retirement from league was in his opinion the continued racist selection policies by the the NRL board.*

    *i.e they didn't pick Choc.

You now beginning to see why no matter what he does accomplish, some of us just can't support Choc.

Fair enough hes proud of his race and I don't doubt things may have been a little harder for him, but things such as humility and maturity are qualities that some of us find endearing.

The thing is, he has achieved at a high level. Fighting for a world title after only 11 pro bouts with no amatuer background is very impressive. As much as I love to support local fighters he makes it very hard (for me). Generally speaking, most Aussies prefer a quiet humble achiever, not a big noting loudmouth.

But self promoting yourself as the greatest thing ever in boxing while knocking out a succesion of recently retired fighters lured back by one more payday doesn't endear him to me. The D grade Ali schtick I just find embarrasing.

On the flipside, boxing has always been a business and he seems to have done well out of it. But I'm certainly not one of those pie eyed fans who fork over $50 to see him defend his title against some no name for an easy payday.

If he ever does step up his level of opposition, maybe, maybe I could then actually barrick for him.
