Chocoladepindakoeken... how the hell does an American from Boston know the Dutch word for chocolate chip cookies
:blood Chocolate chip cookies? It's a brand name of cookies that are sold by & at Albert Heijn. They're not chocolate chip cookies. They're awesome...uh...how to describe them? They're kind of like shortbreads drizzled with zig-zags of milk chocolate and peanuts, I guess. No chips (and like I said, shortbread - not the same type of dark cookie that typically has chocolate chips in it, either). It's been a while. I assumed they were all the rage over there. They're like crack. I ate maybe five packages during the month I spent in Amsterdam (while starring in my buddy's final project for the film school he attended out there) and smuggled home another half a dozen along with my triple the amount of Absinth allowed by US Customs. :firedevi: I went to order some off the AH website but the damn thing doesn't have an "English" option. :rant
I assumed it meant "chocolate peanut cookie". Is "pinda" not peanut? :think Also, it's interesting that the word for pancake actually translates to "pan cookie". :yep Those were some good meals...ham & cheese & artichoke pannenkoeken. I'm getting the munchies just reminiscing. And I don't even smoke weed! Man, I gotta come back there soon.
Yeah pinda means peanut, I just guessed it was the same a chocolate chip cookie. Got punched a few times too many today I guess :think It's not that hard to bake cookies yourself and put peanuts and chocolate in them. You could even add weed butter and get munchies from eating them :yep
I can also stuff ham and cheese in my own pancakes. It wouldn't be the same. There's something about the food over there, man. They've got Keebler elves hidden away sprinkling pixie dust on everything. I don't know...
it's a different experience, thats why. it's like that everywhere you go. btw, are you going to phantom gourmet? it's at landsdowne st.
I think I know what's different about the cookies compared to the ones you buy in the US. Over here we still use real butter, because margarine is ****ing crap.
Liberal amounts of real creamy butter improves the taste of anything. Even salad is better with a stick of butter on it. Of course, liberal amounts of real creamy butter are horrible for aspiring boxers - or anyone else who wants to be healthy. :!:
Very untrue actually, there's nothing wrong with butter. Of course too much is never good but butter is many times healthier than margarine. Calorie rich, yes. Unhealthy, no. Old school butter is part of my daily diet.
They tell us butter is worse. :think It could be that butter sold in the US has a lot of sodium added. We don't get "pure" butter straight from the cow unless we churn the milk ourselves (which they do teach you how to do in kindergarten...but only the Amish do it as adults).
