The WBA also have regular/ interim/ unified champs in lightweight, welterweight and Cruiserweight.

The WBC have interim in HW / LW.

Its just about the money......but it still makes it real....its in the record books.....its not fair or sporting but its real.

I have trouble excepting that Kessler ducked a bloke he had already beaten , He Unified against Marcus Beyer for a reason , he wanted to unify the WHOLE division and for that he gets my props any day of the week , Mundine v kessler should be the order of the day ..The WBA should do the right thing and install the winner of that bout as their one and only champ , Its like Ash said though its all about the money , I wouldn't put it passed the WBA to upgrade Mundine to Super ****ing dooper champ and install that poor **** Kessler as their "Regular Champ to teach him the lesson for trying to Unify , If i was Joe i would drop kick the belt into the closest river , :fire

I would love to see Kess VS Mundine again :good

It will be on for young and old, champ and chump when Joe moves up to LHW with 2 1/2 belts on offer.

Well, the problem is there are too many belts, too many champions. And then you get the problem of mandatories and trying to unify. I'm not saying anyone ducked anyone. Mundine earned his right as the #1 contender, Kessler opted to unify instead, fair enough! But you were suggesting that Kessler is now left out in the dark when I feel he still has quite a few options up his sleeve.

whatever way you spin it, Mundine is not the man at 168. It is Joe then Kessler. When Joe moves on it will be Kessler until proven otherwise.

Mundines belt is just a bargaining tool.

Ya know, I thought that'd be the case when Mundine became the regular champ, it should have been the case, though Mundine still found ways to fight mediocre opposition.

Somehow I feel that if he becomes (proper) WBC Champ again, the WBA will kind of force him to fight big fights, at least by enforcing mandatories against good contenders. I always thought the WBA should rank Kessler as his mandatory, to get these two to get it on again. But they have decided to rank Braehmer ahead of Kessler. I think Braehmer would prefer going against Choc than against Kessler for the vacant WBO belt.

Braehmer isn't bad but he isn't in Kessler's class...(no one else is either, except Joe)...and he deserves to be rated high in the rankins, but not higher than Kessler.

If you think that's bad, look at the IBF rankings - they don't rank Kessler at all! We've thought about this and we decided it was because of money. Kessler would not have fought an eliminator for the IBF if he could fight for the title straight away, for the WBO. If they had ranked Kessler, he would only have turned his back on the IBF and fought for the WBO instead, losing the IBF some face. But if he had been ranked for the IBF title shot, without having to fight an eliminator first, there would have been less money for the IBF. So the IBF would have lost on both counts - either face or money. So they decided to lose neither, sticking with Bute, with whom they are tight anyway!:yep
