that more recent pic on this thread almost looks like roy jones with byrds face heh. he really should have done this a long time ago
I don't know how any of you can say anything bad about him. He has done an enormous amount of work to get in the shape he is in and deserves credit. Not many of you bitches are in anything like the physical condition he is in now. He is also a credit to the sport and one of the good guys. Give the guy a break.
I've followed Byrd his whole career and been a fan, but the facts are, losing weight will not hide the fact that he's 37 and much slower and less mobile than he used to be. I just don't think Byrd has it anymore...at 210...190...175...or any other weight. He should beat Shawn George, but I doubt he hangs with the top guys in the divsion.
Chrissy put on 35+ pounds in little over a year after turning pro at Super Middleweight. Perhaps it would have been best for him to gradually take off the weight at twice the duration he put it on. But then again Byrd said a couple of weeks ago on FNF he could make 168.
Honestly, I think he's finally matched Wladimir's fitness and body fat level. It's a shame that puts him at 175, but hey, he can be devastating at that weight. Pavlik, Hopkins, Jones, and Calzaghe all better watch it.
He looks fine ... I think that its amazing that he was able to cut down so much weight. He looks tighter and more defined at LHW ... he doesn't look sick, its just not heard of in the modern era for a fighter to spend most of his career at HW then move down to LHW.
I think he's going to do good at LHW ... he's fighting a big LHW in Shaun George who campaigned a large chunk of his career at CW.
Like I said in the other thread, I think he looks like a buff Roger Mayweather. While the body looks ripped, his face looks drawn and drained.
He is in his late 30's ... he has been fighting pro for over 16 yrs ... of course he's going to look somehwat drawn.
I think he looks very, very good, and no one currently at LHW is going to be able to hurt or stop him in a fight.
