Jones to me was a pretty inconsistent guy and a level below. Regarding Toney, I view James as the better fighter overall but I think Byrd is a bad matchup for him. James is at his most dangerous when he is counterpunching against a guy that stays in front of him. Byrd was a smart guy that wouldn't let Toney get his feet set which is what Toney needs to be effective at that stage of his career. I'm not saying Toney couldn't win but I am saying I think Byrd winning in a stinker is more likely.

Yes but James excels when he stays in the pocket and sets his feet. Byrd steps out and around when he counters. Byrd is not a runner but he definitely relies on movement. He know he can't knock James out and will look to turn James so he can't set his feet.

James is the type of guy that would rather fight Bangers like Peter and Rahman who are murderous punchers but guys that can't move. Byrd like Montell Griffin are much worse matchups for him.

I 100% would back Gomez to beat him.

Jones might pull it off too.
