He didn't use up the ring as much as Mildenburger did ever in his careee...His upper body is not faster than Ali's punches. Ali wins, but looks average & mediocre throughout the bout. Byrd was a spoiler, elusive & hard to hit - something Ali wasn't used to fighting. He excelled against slow, stationary opponent's with little to no head movement or footwork. Against Byrd, Ali will be made to look foolish at times due to Byrd's awkward, herky-jerky defense. It's a dull fight that goes the distance, where Ali gets gifted a decision, due to having a higher work-rate & being the aggressor.
