Interesting to watch these two amateur fights against the same opponent, Nathan Delcastro. The first one was in May this year and Eubank gets put down in the first 5 seconds, but it was more of a balance issue than being hurt. He then goes into a war and it is a frenetic, wild 3 rounds. Very entertaining and the crowd must have loved it but total brawl stuff. The rematch was Eubanks last amateur fight and happened only a month later and Eubank said before it he wanted to box and not get into as much of a fight. The two performances are very very different, but both interesting to watch in their own right. Second one starts off quite high octane and has it's moments, but he definitely times counters more and steps off. May 13th Fight: [YT]PELwYbPT2Kc[/YT] June 11th Fight: [YT]_enS_3f4goI[/YT]
Didn't commit to the body enough IMO. Sloppy punching technique as well. Then again I am a cynic who doesn't rate modern boxing all that much, and rates wins over negative survivalists even less so. In short, what I should've said was 'ask me for my opinion when he fights someone there to fight back' :good
Fair enough, I disagree in particular on the technique. Degale is someone who has poor punching technique, the jab was popped out properly and his power shots were not thrown wide but with proper form IMO.
He's only had one fight and that was against an opponent who didn't throw any punches back. Let's see what happens when he cops one on the chin. Lets see if he still wants to pose or if he can really fight before he gets put in with someone like Paul Smith. I think Smith deserves a bit more respect as well. He may have lost against Degale and Groves but that doesn't suddenly make him a terrible fighter. He's still good enough for British level which is far beyond Eubank jr at this stage. I thought Eubank jr looked ok for a first fight, he showed he had decent boxing ability but still has a lot to learn before he can face this type of opponent. All he has proved so far is he can jump over the top rope and he has the same terrible taste in music as his dad. By the way I'm a big fan of Chris Eubank sr.
