Think he did throw more straighter punches. He didn't throw much volume and it didn't really look that exciting. He did try to use the jab a bit more, especially targeting the body. It was an OK work out but won't scare anyone at or near the top of the division. Roy Jones said after the fight Jr did everything he asked of him, but he wanted him to work on moving his head off centre line. Jr was still very susceptible to the jab, Morrison had a decent jab on him tbf. I think he could work on using his hands to deflect the jab as well. He is still trying to move his head backwards to avoid the jab lol A) Even if it takes the sting off the jab a little it still doesn't look good when it clearly hits your melon B) Surely it puts you off balance for whats coming next. I hope Roy makes an effort to rectify this issue. I kind of thought they already would have in the last 12 months.
Liam Williams fight needs to be next. Not as big of a grudge match as Kell Brook, but still a decent amount of needle. Williams is still in his prime and Brook has seen better days. I think the Brook fight is easier to win and a bigger ticket seller but the Williams fight is much better for career progression. Not that beating either would prove much to the key board warriors. Honestly don't think its much bigger of a win than beating Nick Blackwell fresh off a KO of John Ryder. Just my opinion though. Jr needs another prep fight before the big one at the end of year and that is a fact. Probably gets whooped if he fights a champion next. I do think Jr beats both Brook and Williams pretty handily. I hope Brook and the Ingle team dodge and mention Liam instead
"Well I believe Christopher can take a punch.I m very good at math and looking at a fighter and seeing what his abilities are. I cant see that Golovkin has anything like Christopher's speed, his power, his punching ability, foot movement,I dont see that from a calculated point of view, I dont see that he has anything like that.So then its gonna come down to heart." English's analisis from a few years ago.
I've seen many descriptions of junior over the years, "prime young war machine" just bested them all, biggest moment of this machines career is still a defeat to Saunders, quite unbelievable that's still the case all these years later.
Already happening in this thread, kids setting the narrative that GGG is a shot fighter in case young CHRIS beats him up and stops him.
He is going to be 32 in September of this year. His foot speed looked slow and reflexes looked poor against a guy who is Tyan Booth’s sloppy seconds. Credit for him having the career he has had given his weaknesses. But let’s not pretend he can mix it at world title level. I enjoyed watching his Roy Jones impression, but don’t think that style is going to elevate him above the level he reached earlier in his career. His level is European level/Fringe world level.
Kid lost a hugely controversial sd in his first ever twelve rounder. Still Saunders best win, Saunders wants no part of the rematch let’s be honest. If you asked one hundred boxing fans to guess which middleweight was being described as a “Prime young war machine” out of Saunders ggg and young CHRIS I think you’d get one hundred correct answers.
I think you're admitting it yourself there, we all know that GGG is past his best just like all Jnrs best wins were. Andy Lee is his best win I think, Andy Lee was a World Champion at the time still and a far better boxer than Jnr will ever be. Jnr fought Morrison at the weekend, Saunders is gearing up for a fight against arguably the best boxer in the world right now. I'm sorry if I come across like I'm calling you out, we just have very different opinions on this but I respect yours.
Nothing controversial about Saunders was only about 70-80% fit and he still won clearly and Jr's the one who's repeatedly turned doun the rematch.
This is hilarious, people getting back on the Eubank Jr hypre train because he beat a domestic level guy not even looking impresive in doing so lol!
