was there a reason why the likes of eubank, watson, Benn, collins ans such didnt take on the US contingent and there best around the mid 90's era. I mean i know Benn took out McClellan who was a big star but thats all i can remember. I was way too young too so can only just remember watching the Benn Mcclellan fight so dont have much of a recollection about world boxing from that 1990 - 1995 period.

benn beat barkley and dewitt in their own backyards, plus another guy in 3 straight fights in the us
watson fought and lost to mike mcallum in the us.his career was cut short of course.
eubank didn't really, he was quite clear about not liking being a boxer and was a truely different kind of man. the watson fight caused his consience alot of problems.
but benn and watson were fearless so if some no nothing claims either ducked anyone remember....they're talking ****

ok so what about Collins, i mean surely he was around the time of RJJ and Toney at 168??

i can remember loads of the domestic scene back in the nineties, but wasnt big at all of the world scene. I mean i would have thought of Barkley and Dewitt as bums placed in front of benn to look good etc. Kinda wish i was born about 5 years earlier so i could have cherished the era better than i did, its ok watching the eubank benn and collins contests on Youtube now, but its nothing than seeing it live, knowing your watching something truly special, and my first time of this was Benn - McClellan

Collins was based in the USA for most if not all of his boxing career and was trained by Freddie Roach

He wanted Roy Jones and never shut up about it......

i knew of him wanting a fight with RJJ, but its funny how you never see many threads of how RJJ ducked Collins,.

i grew up watching those guys . a magic era, when we properly had a boxing scene to rival anyone, at least at that weight. here were 3 fighters, all the same weight who were world class .
stock up and watch as much of the 3 as you can , think you can get eubank watson 1 and 2 on youtube.
i watched that fight ,must have been 16 ,pissed out of my head ,cheering watson on as did most, he was the good guy to eubanks baddie. then ,just as he looked to have it won, eubank hit him with as hard an uppercut as youll see, and what happened next, well it makes me sad just to type it. brain damaged, looked doomed but watson has managed to rebuild his life to a degree.
the same cant be said of gerald mc, another fight that has appected me ever since, but ****ing hell...WHAT A FIGHT .if the result wouldn't have been so tragic that would be ranked alot higher in the best fights ever.
collins was lucky and unlucky. he came later ,caught nigel and chris on the way down and kicked their arses, but unfortuneatly he'll never be recalled in the same way. think he lost to someone big in the us , early 90's jones, hopkins??????

Eubank wouldve dealt with Collins comfortably back when he was at his best and even fought well in Ireland twice.....legend!

could have been the result of the fight. doubt it though, think toney would have had too much. but the eubank pre watson 2 would have a chance at least.

it says that collins lost to Reggie johnson in 1992 and Mike Mccallum in 1990.

I still to this day have not seen the full eubank Watson fight. I havent seen the knockout even or the aftermath, i must make it a priority.

I think what got me hooked on boxing at a young age was how purely brutal Benn - Mcclellan was. I was only like fuking 7 or 8 at the time but i can remember benn being sent through the ropes the first round, like it was yesterday. Stanger was the fact i can remember news reports about the fight like the day after saying about geralds mental health and how Benn also had to have scans etc. quality era
