Gamboa hasn't lost either. Your logic makes no sense. John has beaten some good FW's, but he hasn't taken any risks in his career for . Hasn't taken challenging fights . Man, that sure reminds me of someone... I musta forgot... his greatest win over marquez was basically created by a hometown referee...
legitimately none but there's a bit of a difference in ring age between the two fighters wouldnt you say? and at least gamboa is taking on rojas
one is 30 the other one is 28 that's not a big difference to me and john fought derrick gainer, rocky juarez and juan manuel marquez all better than any fighter gamboa has faced.. and you're counting rojas a fighter he hasnt fought yet.. for all we know gamboa can lose that fight easily :hat
Both have fought Jose Rojas - you can use this awkward boxer as a benchmark: 03/03/2007 Chris John vs Jose Rojas - Unanimous decision 118-108, 116-110, 117-107 04/17/2009 Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Jose Rojas - 10th TKO he basically won every round and held back in KO'ing him to show his close-out ability in late rounds.... as i remarked in the previous post, he wont go against a big puncher. His notable victories were against boxers and counter-punchers. His next fight lined up is vs a fighter who has 38wins, 1KO, 4Losses, 3Draws - this is VERY sketchy.... After this fight, will be his 40th. I think he'll close out his career at 40-0 w/ a B/C-lvl fighter.... repost:
Atleast John has marquee names on his resume im waiting for gamboa to move past prospect level into contender level and fight someone who actually can beat him b4 i pick him over well established and long reigning john
heh, real good point there... Gamboa is officially out of "prospect" classification, considering he's got an abc title, at least. He's kind of proven, but not established. From what ive seen in his fights, and the level of ability ive seen, imo he'll be #1 FW. But thats when he does step it up and fight equal elite fighters. Its the same with Andre Ward. He's got huge amount of talent and ability. Just now taken on the top elites and establishing his name as top SMW.... It was like with Mike Tyson. You could just SEE he was something special. He proved himself by taking out B-level competition. He was unproven as a top elite but you could just see it coming. And he just steamrolled Trevor Berbick. I believe Gamboa has the ability to do that to John if he went the risky route. But i'd believe he'd break him down safely like how he broke down Rojas....
wish he fought salido who would be a tough test and i do agree with you but his paper title is a load of **** its like when mundine was given a charity belt after kessler killed him nothing to be proud of
wtf is that supposed to mean.. gamboa has been fighting since he was a little kid and fought on big international tournaments :hat
At the moment, I would take Chris John. Chris John has a boat load of experience while Gamboa hasn't really fought anybody where he has a real good chance of losing. Gamboa isn't a prospect, he is on the "champion" level since he does have a WBA belt, but I like John to box the socks off Gamboa. Sure Gamboa has the speed and power, but I favor John's boxing ability right now.
