The blacks in South Africa are actually people who displaced the original people living there about 1500 years ago (the original people from there can be seen in The God’s Must Be Crazy). No political statement intended.

It didn’t happen overnight, but even 1500 years is a short period compared to how long they were there for.

 

Well the San have been here since, like, forever. I used to go hiking in the Drakensberg and you could still see their drawings on cliffs. The drawings were slowly being eroded by weather and graffiti; they're probably gone now. The Bantu began arriving in around the 1600-1700's. Between the Europeans and the Bantu the San have pretty much been wiped out. Sad, I always had a soft spot for their art.
