Klompton and ESB posters. While watching a photo of #11 from last photo up, I'll be darned if the guy on the right sparring with Dempsey, is not a dead ringer of Harry Greb ! Can this photo be of Greb sparring with Jack Dempsey,and getting the best of their session.? It sure looks like the face of Harry Greb. The ref is in the foreground with a white cap. But why would there be a ref in a training session.? Interesting.....
Those photos all originate from Dempsey's 1919 training camp for the Willard bout. Greb is not in any of them. Thats not a ref. That is Jimmy Deforrest who trained Dempsey for the bout.
I think the dude sparring with him is too tall and too slim to be Greb, however, I do think he resembles Young Stribling, who had the same kind of brow as Greb. Scartissue
Young Stribling was 15 when this photo was taken. The guy in the photo is Terry Keller, not Greb or Stribling. The other fighters pictured are Jock Malone, Bill Tate and Jamaica Kid.
Thanks for the info. Facially Keller resembled Greb, but Harry was shorter than the guy in the photo...Greb's face was described byStanley Weston of Ring Mag, as one of a kind.
