Haven't read all the posts; I'm thinking (eras aside) LaStarza-Young would have been a good one at Heavy. Loved Jimmy in that short "wheelhouse of prime" and loved Roland's savvy.
What's up jowcol? I had to hop on this one right away.......I think this fight would have prompted a chorus of boo's all night long unfortunately...with Jimmy forcing Roland to be the aggressor and soundly outpointing him...I could be wrong of course, but to quote your patented phrase,..."that's just my $0.02"
You might be right, maybe that one wouldn't be as good as I thought. :? Couple of points: My cuz Mike in Florida loves The Rock and thinks he's the greatest. A couple of years ago a gave him a trivia question. Think Rock-LaStarza 1. "Cuz, why is this judge (name escapes me) so important in boxing history?" That judge in their first fight scored it a LaStarza victory by a point. He said The Rock lost! 2. The thread reminded me of this: We all loved the Elimination Tourney in 67. When it got down to the early 68 title bout between Ellis-Quarry? Perhaps the worst fight of the Tourney. Jerry laid on the ropes trying to lure Jimmy there to counterpunch and Jimmy standing in the middle of the ring wanting to box Jerry's ears off. The result? zzzzz A (California judging at the time) Majority Decision for Ellis. I (think) the scoring was ridiculous. One judge had a WIDE decision for Ellis, one had it close, and the other called it a draw??? I think we should put Red Cobra, Jowcol, and another astute judge ringside and we wouldn't have this nonsense. "that's just my $0.02"
