Let's hear some classic opinions on tonight's fight. How did you see it?

Haven't seen it myself yet. Will give you my view on it when I do finally see it.

    :good

I'll wait till I see the fight before I pat myself on the back Cooke. It may turn out that I have Marquez edging it. Sounds like it could have gone either way from most (reasonable poster) opinions I've heard so far.

Best fight i've ever watched from the couch. Certainly since Benn-McClellan, and this one had no terrible tragedy taking the shine off. Great, great, great fight.

I had Marquez edgind it by a point. But I won't say robbery - it is interesting though. It was pretty hard to envisage anyone but Manny winning a really close fight.

Just re-watched it and I scored it the same as the first time around. Marquez by a single point.

I had Marquez edging it by a point or 2.. A draw again would have been acceptable too, but I just don't think Pacquaio showed himself to be the better man tonight. Great fight though, the 8th round I think, where Pacquaio got cut and couldn't see I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I whinced when Marquez landed that left hook to the body and I know Pacquaio felt it.

Yeah, this is well put. It was to close to shout robbery, but...I agree with you, I feel that Marquez proved himself the better fighter...so...robbery.

I also had it for JMM by a single point, but I knew that there was no way he was going to get the nod in such a close fight. Juan really should have gone for broke in the 8th when he had Pac hurt and again in the 12th to finish strong, but he was too wary of the Filipino`s power to really commit to a sustained attack for too long. Can`t complain about the decision though since it was close fight, but Juan should have known better than to leave it in the judges hands if he expected to win.

In terms of prediction I got it spot on. Pac by split decision. However, I feel I really got the prediction wrong and JMM won by a point or two.

It's a very valid point. Although perhaps easier said than done.

    Finally saw it.

    First my card:

    114-114 Draw

Marquez winning rounds 2,5,6,8,11 and 12.
    Pacquiao winning rounds 3( 10-8 ),4,7,9 and 10.
    Round 1 being even.

I was tempted to call the 7th, 9th and 12th rounds even. They were that close. If I did Marquez would have won by a point. But I was also tempted to score the 3rd round 10-7 because Marquez DID use the ropes to keep himself up at the end of the round. If I did, again it becomes a draw.

Anyway, I'm happy with my card. About as close a fight as you can get. There was no clear winner, and if you claim that there was you are being biased or ignorant. Simple as that.

Not having seen it live maybe I'm not in the position to say but I thought it was only an ok-to good type fight. Nothing special.

What stood out to me more than anything in this fight were the glaring deficiencies in both fighters which will always make for a close contest between them: Manny despite showing an improved defense, once again showed that he has a one dimensional attack, jab-straight left, jab-straight left AD NAUSEUM and that's about it. Juan despite having more technical skill still showed that his defense has holes in it and Pacquiao was able to land his predictable combination quite often throughout the fight.

Did I expect anything different? Not really, which is why I was never really hyped about the fight and wasn't too excited to see what I did see.
