[yt]gkXBjfIhonA[/yt] Co-feature to Spadafora vs. Griffith (Spadafora's 3rd defense of the IBF 135lb title) on KO Nation - and this one stole the show. The main event was full of cagey posing, crossfire entanglements & clinches, headbutts and rabbit punches...and had an unsatisfactory ending with Spadafora arguably receiving a gift to escape with a TD. The heavyweights, on the other hand, produced clean action throughout - with Brewster gallantly sucking up a knee injury from the 1st to slug it out with the Black Rhino - and had a clear and decisive victor after ten rounds of rock 'em sock 'em robot fare. It delivered exactly what it promised on paper - a spirited battle of fit, jacked & powerful heavies putting their zeroes on the line and laying it all out. Interestingly, it was Brewster who shone brighter for the remainder of the decade - becoming WBO champ with a stoppage of Wladimir Klitschko and making a few defenses including a FOTY candidate with Sergei Liakhovich. Etienne pretty much peaked on this night, with four KO losses and two draws (one a robbery of an old Francois Botha, and the other more ignominiously to an 18-6-1 fighter...and his only successes post-Brewster were knocking out Mike Tyson stalker (and possibly sibling) Couser, and outpointing Lawrence Clay Bey in another entertaining unbeaten HW slugfest not long after Brewster...yet not as meaningful, given what both Clay Bey & Brewster would respectively go on to accomplish.
Good post IB. The negativity on this forum gets pretty exhausting some times. Glad somebody keeps it interesting.
Other than Povetkin vs. Takam (and maybe Cunningham vs. Mansour) I can't think of a recent HW fight that went in the neighborhood of 10 rounds and was nearly this consistently entertaining throughout.
You would think so going by their records but Etienne had a chin that night anyway. Torn ligaments or not, Lamon got in some bombs.
Fantastic fight! Ettienne was never a skilled boxer, but he had one serious advantage - great stamina, he threw like 60+ powerpunches in every round and just outworked Lamon in an exciting fight. Ettienne usually got beaten pretty easily when his opponents chose to box, not brawl against him, but that was later.
