    Impressive, but don't forget this is Chuck Wepner he's fighting. More impressive is that Wepner survived this beating. He needed 80 stitches, had a broken nose, a broken cheekbone, and went into shock after the fight. Liston visited Wepner's dressing room after the fight to congratulate him, something he rarely did with his opponents. When asked if Wepner was the bravest guy he ever met, he said "I think his manager is."

    We have to remember too this is Liston in his last fight. God knows how old he is and he's probably a decade post peak.

    I think even in the Machen fight, he was showing signs of being past it. His prime imo was 58-59.
