This is whack! I was really looking forward to finally seeing some unification going down at welterweight

 

Well, true to form, the IBF maintains it's ranking as the #1 title-stripping organization. I think a lot of people would like to see one title for each division but the truth is that the titles are, whether we like it or not, prestigious trinkets. Fighters want to win them so they can be called "world champion" even if there are 3 others who hold the same distinction. As long as this is the case the fighters are at the mercy of the sanctioning bodies. I suppose it's better to have your picture taken with that red title belt around your waist than to have your picture taken without it at the end of the day.

 

And round and round we go. It means nothing to hold a belt these days. :-(

 

The IBF has still yet to explain how Issac Hlatswayo is the mandatory. Wasn't there a draw in a title eliminator?
