Joe Warren vs. Joe Soto (Bellator) Soto had Warren with accurate, crisp, heavy shots in the first round and for the life of me I couldn't understand why Warren wasn't shooting for the takedown since he was clearly outclassed in striking. Soto was literally teeing off on Warren on the fight appeared to be the biggest mismatch I'd ever seen in MMA. Soto was clowning Warren & making him look like a rank amateur. To his credit Warren never went down but he did turn his back multiple times. The second round started off the same with both fighters swinging in the center of the ring but Soto had his hands too low & Warren caught him with a big right hand knocking Soto to the canvas. Warren pounced on him with rapid fire hammer fists but to his credit Soto somehow stood up. Warren landed a picture perfect knee to the head followed by a left hook & Soto fell face first to the mat. The ref waved it off. Comeback MMA fight of the year?
the greatest comeback...maybe..ever is nog vs crocop. the comeback fighter of the year is anderson silva vs chael sonnen...a fight where he was totally getting owned till the last round....he simply was no match for chael....but he "pulled a nogueira" in the last round.
Maybe Mark Hunt has a chance to be comeback fighter of the year should he look impressive and win. It appears he is taking training seriously and is in great shape. I think he knows this is a big chance for him to become relivant again.
Some of my comeback fights would be Lawler vs Manhoef, Shields vs Henderson, Cro Cop vs Barry, Franklin vs Liddell, Condit vs MacDonald, Lesnar vs Carwin, Silva vs Sonnen. My comeback fighters would be Chris Leben, Matt Hughes, Brock Lesnar and MAYBE Mirko Cro Cop if he gets past Mir.
I just remembered Todd Duffee vs Russow, Duffee was making a punching bag out of Russow then Russow tapped Duffee on the bucket and it was over.
Lawler and Silva. Lawler because physically he was VERY close to the end, he could barely stand. Silva because he was barely in the fight for 4.5 rounds.
Did anybody even see Warren vs. Soto? I mean those other fights were great comebacks too but no comment on the fight I mentioned? Yes, Warren was losing his last two fights before pulling it out in the end.
