Oh no, as Byrd's fights with Wlad and Ike prove.

Foreman was slow and gassed for the Young fight. I think Bryd wins here.

Young would get iced by Wlad and Ike too.

the wlad that byrd fought in the rematch was better than anyone young fought.

byrd got cocky against ike and paid a price. young's first kayo loss was to shavers and both young and chris noticeably improved after suffering their first stoppage loss, infact both went on to become defensive wizards.

byrd, imo, could do everything young did, just a bit better. not significantly more so, just a tad.

the main difference in their arsenal was mentality. I can't see byrd giving up against ocasio and beoming a gate keeper.

byrd would have beaten shavers, lyle, ali, and foreman just as young did imo. i also think he;d have lost to norton.

young would have beaten vitali, tua, holyfield, fres and mccline just as byrd did also imo.

not much between them. it seems that one got the decisions he deserved despite being a defensive man in a knockout man's division and the other one didn't.

still based on film byrd seems a little bit better, just enough that I think he'd have beaten young, but not signifcantly enough that I think it would have overcame young's shortcomings against norton's body attack.

Stinson wasn't Ring top 10. I left off Tucker and Page on purpose. Irrelevant fights some years down the road.

Forgot to add Lyle x2, honest typo.

Young would do much better against Ike and Vitali

Byrd would get raped and i meant straight raped by Foreman.

Byrds probably more featherfisted than Young.

But it would be good while it lasted.

Byrd from the holy fight definitely beats the foreman from the young fight.

I agree. If Foreman actually caught and finished Young, I could see the arguments for him beating but not necessarily "raping" Byrd. But that isn't what happened. Foreman swung at air, gassed out, and barely finished the fight on his feet.

Yeah that's how I see it. Swinging for the fences against the early 00's byrd will just get you in trouble because you won't catch him and you'll get tired or injure yourself.

I think george has shown a stylisting weakness to high stamina elusive fighters with a solid chin.

You need the chin because at some point he'll catch you and you have to weather the storm.

For what its worth...Foreman would probably knockout the excessive rope clowning Byrd that lost to Ike.

For what it's worth I'm not sure Young beats Vitali, but not sure Byrd beats Foreman or arguably beats Ali for that matter

I doubt if the fight was tomorrow you'd back it with your money though. Byrd liked the ropes too much here imo and Holyfield who fought Byrd was injured

Would I bet money? Hard to say. Maybe i'd throw a fiver on it.

I think byrd can do what young could but better. I think he'd have outpointed george that night.

Would young have the nouse to force vitali backward and out of his comfort zone? I doubt it but he'd sure make him miss just as much.

The ali from after the thriller loses to most top class heavyweights imo. Norton, shavers and young are 3 totally different styles and all deserved the nod against ali. I can't see byrd losing to that version.

Jimmy Young was not that good of a fighter... He just had an elusive style that made aging or slow moving men look bad in his losing efforts..... Byrd was better, albeit slightly.....

i don't care if he's not in the top 10 to be honest, he was still a decent olympic fighter and Young schooled him.
you were including losses too though. i was listing the notable fighters he fought

    Byrd obviously improved after ike
