I will post up the names of four of Britains current best/popular boxers. All you have to do is tell me which ones you like or dislike; any reason will do, ie: "He's a cocky *******", "He talks ****", "I hate his fighting style", "his opposition is rubbish but everyone pretends he's a world beater", "He slaps with his punches", "My grandad gets more power behind his shots than this shoeshine ****er", "He thinks he's a bloody comedian, but he's not", "he's a glass-jawed freak", "I am jealous of his success", "My hatred is blind....I'm not too sure were it comes from.....all I know is that I hate him."............Oh, and vice versa for the reasons you like them. Now for the list: 1. David Haye 2. Ricky Hatton 3. Amir Khan 4. Carl Froch I'll put myself in the firing line first: Like: :goodHaye - attractive style of boxing, always looking for a challenge, has achieved so much for someone with so few fights, always get that feeling the fight could end any second when he is in the ring. Froch - I like his style of fighting, had that great fight with Pascal which really converted me (I hadn't been too fussed on him either way beforehand), has a good solid chin (which for some reason I like in a boxer). Dislike: :twisted::deadHatton - hate his style of fighting, his personality grates on me (didn't used too strangely, but does now), recently the P-4-P talk has annoyed me. Khan - have come around to him a lot more recently, just not enough to extinguish the dislike, don't mind his style of fighting (makes for exciting fights tbh; kill-or-be-killed stuff), I just don't like the product I'm being sold by Warren, PPV bollox really turned me away. Neutral: Haye, Froch. Hate: Hatton - Annoyingly arrogant, however this is not my main dislike as any number of boxers are. His style...its ****ing awful. Somewhat dislike: Khan - Got everything on a plate without doing anything in the pro ranks. Horrible matchmaking against featherfists, and then let everybody down against Prescott. If he rebounds from this and fights good competition and wins I may move him into the neutral status.
I'm generally indifferent to the British fighters if I'm honest. Hatton - I always want to do well. But I hate his style, and find almost every fight he is in, very boring. Haye - I like the excitement he bring to the division. I want him to get the big fights and I hope he wins. Although I don't think he is the real deal, and will probaly get KTFO. Froch - I want him to do well. I think he has a decent chin, but is very limited. Also lazy when going into the second half of fights. Not convinced he can cut at at the top level for very long. Khan - I dislike everything surrounding Khan, the hysteria, the hype, the hatred, the controversay. I think he has great offensive skills, but a dodgy chin. He will probably win a world title or two, but there are going to be many KTFO moments in his career, which will probably make it very exciting overall. I might become a fan, if his career keeps moving in the right direction, and he tones his personality down.
I have things that I both like and dislike anout each of them. 1. David Haye - Love his confidence and that he is prepared to go in with anyone. Awesome punching power as well. Also like the fact that he acknowledges his weaknesses. Dislike the fact that he's far too good looking for a boxer (no I don't fancy him before any budding Einstein chips in) and has an army of fit birds that follow him around and hang on his every word. 2. Ricky Hatton - Like his overall persona and his all action style in the ring. Dislike his constant referring to himself in the third person. 3. Amir Khan - Like his blurring hand speed. Dislike he fact that he' so fragile. Also dislike his arrogance and slight delusion. 4. Carl Froch - Like his confidence in himself and his iron chin. Like that he's an intelligent guy in and out of the ring. Also like the fact he will fight anyody anywhere. Dislike his obsessive disorder with Joe Calzaghe. He's not so bad now but at one point it really seemed to be troubling him and I was thinking he might need some psychological counselling to get through it.
Haye: funny, engaging, good to watch. Talks the talk but then walks the walk. Fighting Mormeck in Paris was the exact kind of situation that a similarly hyped American prospect would not even consider in the main. Froch: Thinks avoiding punches hitting you in the face is for girls. Not the most advisable strategy, but makes for entertainment. Again, by going to the US for his first defence is showing the kind of bollocks that too many boxers today don't exhibit. Hatton: Willing to front it up with anyone, goes foward and gives it his best shot. The fact that the haters have to build up a habit of talking about oneself in the third person to be morally equivalent to the holocaust in order to build up a good ire is a sign in itself. Khan: Engaging lad, entertaining boxer, will never be in a boring fight. What's not to like. Due to circumstances of his background is unfortunate to attract people both for and against him who will use him as a prop for their agendas. Has dealt very well with that so far.
1. David Haye - Love his confidence and his puching power and the fact he wants to fight the best and and a good hand speed to suplement his power. 2. Ricky Hatton - Love Hatton and love his stly of boxing all action going for the kill there is never a boring fight where he looks to win on points and he will never duck an anybody. Also like the fact that he never trash talks and lets his fist do the talking. 3. Amir Khan - Like his hand speed but cannot stand his arrogance and the fact he thinks he is a hell of a lot better than he is like when was calling out pacman. Lets face it any elite fighter will kill him with that glass jaw he has. 4. Carl Froch - Like the fact he will fight anyone anywhere at any time and love his iron chin.
I generally always support british boxers and want them to win. Don't particularly dislike any of them although Froch is probably the one I dislike to the greatest extent...He has a good chin and a bit of power, although I think it's overrated at the highest level, but I just think he has a pretty limited skillset...Hope he beats Taylor and proves me wrong though! Khan I support, think he's highly talented with a great future although I do wish he'd keep his gob shut at times as he does talk some rubbish at times and doesn't help himself... Hatton, he does have an ugly style at times, but he does have charisma and has the "common touch." I love his body punching. Had the balls atleast to fight Floyd Mayweather and the balls to come back from a pride busting defeat too. Not to mention he is one of the biggest draws in world boxing so there must be something likable about him. Haye, absolutely love his style, devastating puncher, pretty quick hands and has achieved a lot in a small number of fights...always good to watch. Has a lot of charisma and personality...I do think he is bullshitting us a bit though and isn't going to be able to compete with the klits as they're too big and powerful for his chin...he could perhaps compete if he got a trainer like roach or steward and worked on other things other than just relying on power and a hands down style...Again hope he proves me wrong!!
Haye - I like. Entertaining fighter goes for the KO, wants the best fights out there and is willing to put his reputation on the line for it. Froch - I kind of dislike. Entertaining fighter who wants to fight the best but he talks a lot of shite however if he proves himself to be the best 168lber over the next 18-24 months then I'll like him. Khan - I like. Talented fighter with a lot of heart, always gives his all despite his vulnerabilities. Sure his driving incident gives him some bad press but I bet I could go out there and find 100 young lads and lasses in their late teens/early twenties who are worse behind the wheel(ps. that's not saying all young drivers are bad because it's well known that old people and people who drive german saloons who are the worst), don't like his promotion team though. Hatton - Neutral. I think he's boring as hell as a fighter I really do, seems a nice enough guy though despite the constant mentioning of the mythical "P4P" title but then again he has a fight to sell.
Haye: Like watching him fight, like the way he came up. Hope he fights and beats Klitschko though I don't think he will (either of them). Hope he stays around for a few years Froch: Neutral really, enjoyed a few of his fights and he's a funny bloke but he's not someone I really rate all that highly. Hatton: I don't really like him, he was protected on the way to the top by both Warren and a couple of our refs and I think he's a dirty fighter. I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say I hate him, he comes across as quite a nice bloke although he plays up to his image these days. He's brave in the ring. Just don't care for that style of boxing is the main thing. Khan: Don't like him at all. I didn't dislike him from the start and I was ready to become a fan after the Gomez fight but I don't like the way he talks, he's pretty arrogant and nothing complementary he says about anybody comes across as genuine. I'm disgusted that he thinks he's worth me paying £15 to watch him when he hasn't even fought a half decent domestic lightweight. Clearly his route upward, as far as that goes-not to the top I'm certain with that chin-is going to be paved with more featherweights and old men. Warren won't put him in with a puncher again. That and I'm a racist. (j/k)
David Haye = I like him he has a KO or be KO'd attitude which always makes for exciting fights, He is smart an very articulate and has a great love for the sport, I believe he would make a great boxing analyst/commentator (he is always on point when covering the Amateurs on BBC) Though the main reason is he knows he has a weakness(his chin) but unlike most boxers he is open and honest about it and the fact he wasnt treated with kid gloves as a prospect Ricky Hatton = I like him.. he may not have the greatest style in the ring but you know no matter what he will give it his all:bbb, Outside of the ring he seems like an alright guy and talking in the 3rd person and thinking he can win the "P4P #1 Title":nut isnt enough to make me hate him Amir Khan = I dont like him but I dont dislike him, my thoughts on him are "If he gets KO'd well it was gonna happen sooner or later", "If he wins well done"..... could really care less either way, but if he was to acknowledge his faults (his chin) in the same way David Haye has, he would go into my like category Carl Froch = Cant stand him:twisted:, he went to the same self promotion school as Junior Witter, mentions Calzaghe every other word, If I could compare him to someone it would be Flint Island but with a hater obsession instead of the Obsessive Hugging, I was starting to warm to him as he had calmed down a bit and his fight with Pascal was pretty entertaining but his comments about Calzaghe's retirement, put him into my Hate list again in permanent ink. The one good thing I can say about him is he has an exciting fighting style... just doesnt have the reflexes to pull it off:deal :good P.s I think that is the most I have ever written in my entire time on the forum:yep
