Conor Benn is fighting July 31st.

He's currently ranked 11th with the WBC, 12th with the IBF and 12th with the WBA. He's not fought anyone in the top 15 of any of the belts, he's not fought for a British or Commonwealth title either and yet somehow he's being talked about as "PPV BABY" with fights against beaten up fighters from yesteryear. If you're going to do that at least go after a Broner or a Brook, even a pretty much retired Khan if you are really that desperate, make it clear that's what you want next and go for it, at least there's a name to sell. You can't sell pretty much retired old names like Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero, those guys were on Fight Night Champion 10 years ago for crying out loud. Wait a minute, this is Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, all you need is a story, doesn't have to be true, just make up a story or tweak one that you made earlier.

 

Formella win was his best so far. Beating anyone who managed to go 12 rounds with Shawn Porter is a big deal

 

To be fair to Benn he was going to fight Jenkins but Warren pulled Jenkins out of the fight.

Realistically Benn should be fighting Avanesyan next. He is very overhyped though Benn is, I saw on a youtube video saying that Benn is going to be a PPV star and would give Porter a good fight.

 

Benn now saying that Khan hasn't got a pair on him. There are many things that Khan may or may not be but one thing that you can never question is his bravery. I think Matchroom have dusted off the old handbook from when Jnr left and Benn is now reading from it.

 

Agreed but tbf it’s a good tactic. I can’t see Khan taking the fight but Khan is very arrogant and is also incredibly stupid so I could see him genuinely getting irked and maybe fancying the fight a little. He’s been posting updates on his IG and by all accounts is getting back into shape.

 

The boxing game is past the point of no return now, I think.
I don't blame these Youtubers for getting involved like they are, when the so-called 'real boxers' are carrying on like this just 5 years into their pro careers.

 

Benn is not a boxer, he is a rich kid playing boxing, he gets demolished by a real boxer. Lets see him fight someone in the British top 50. Khan is right to ignore him, he is nowhere near Khan's level.

 

Think Hearn said on iFL the other day the first fight camp show will be July 31st so guess Conor vs aging punchbag headlines that show.

 

Keeps calling out Khan or Brook when he knows they won't fight him (nothing to gain fights for them). He should invest his energy in calling out realistic opponents, like some of them mentioned here.

 

I get that a lot of people dislike Benn as he’s clearly got a lot of holes in his game.

But for me he’s always been entertaining and fair enough to him for giving it a crack.

now as for avaneysan if you was his manager or promoter would you recommend him take that fight next? Be honest we all know he’s not ready for that. Why does he get a hard time yet I don’t see half as much hate for someone like Jack Catterall who didn’t fight anyone with a pulse until he was like 23-0

 

The fuss people made over the last guy he fought, like that was some sort of test.
Vargas. A second-rater to begin with, past his best, and looked like he took an easy way out as soon as he got tagged.

 

I think the fact that he mocked Kelly for losing to Ava and then seemingly doesn't want any part of Ava is a reason why you can rip into Benn. At least Kelly tried himself against a dangerous opponent, yes he lost but he had a go and doesn't go around running his mouth criticising rivals so brashly, talking about money and possessions and PPV before he's even fought for anything of any note. The reason nobody says anything about Catterall is because, like Josh Taylor, he's very quiet, he's not gobbing off, he's just strictly about boxing.

 

Not giving him a pass or saying fair play to him.

He devalues the sport, padding his way up to get a world title shot and the fans end up the ones being short-changed.

Especially when you don't even attempt to win a British or Commonwealth title against a half decent opponent.

 

Catterall doesn’t chat **** though like Benn, who is calling out World Champions when the most realistic high level fight to be made is Avanesyan.

He was going to fight Jenkins but Warren pulled Jenkins out of the fight.
