To be fair, it's possible to be a decent PPV pull and yet still not be any good at all (Jake Paul being the obvious example right now - he's a terrible fighter, won't even fight genuine boxers but he's pulling in the numbers).
Mixed feelings. I dont know what to think about his boxing. That's good, because it's pretty clear to me that hatton's son sucks really hard, I dont need more time to know that fact for sure. And with conor, well... let's give him more time. We will see.
Indeed it is, as long as Sims is being listened to and his advice heeded by Benn and Hearns about career development then all will be well, as Sim said Benn is a "work in progress". I fear Hearn and Benn could be focused upon making quick cash by stepping up too quickly.
Avanesian needs to be taken seriously. He's dangerous as freaking ****. Not top world level, ofc, (at least by now) but dangerous enough to be taken really really really seriously.
Personally, I think that scrotes name should be banned. You are absolutely right, of course, regarding the nature of PPV.
Could it be his team feel he isn't ready yet? They seem to be cultivating his path through the rankings in a cautious manner. But, clearly, Benn will have to face down these sort of guys sooner or later.
I dont know how far he will go but i like the kid i like to watch him fight ;hes fun to watch ;he also seems to be a good kid not that it matters but still. Also loved his dad.
Absolutely, name recognition can often fuel PPV - there have been great fighters with poor name recognition (amongst the non-dedicated and casual followers) and there have been sideshows who weren't all that special at actually boxing who are far better known in the general population... It's sadly just the way things are - some sideshow acts are better known and pull in more attention than lots of serious fighters.
I like Benn, he is fun to watch and comes to fight despite the silver spoon background, he is also charismatic and a good talker. He is very raw but he is improving rapidly however not enough to ever assert himself as number one in the division. If he picks his fights wisely over the years he can get some good scalps but your Crawfords and Spences of the world destroy him. Ennis would do a number on him too. Right now, Porter and Garcia have too much for him but in a couple of years with the right improvements and their deterioration due to age then I think he can get the win but right now he is far from that level.
