look at that. October 21 1996. 2 weeks before he fought Tyson the first time. You can see Evander avoiding Tua's left hook by pulling back and not sitting inside too long. Great sparring partner to get ready for Mike.

Seen it before, great watch. Interesting to see what happens when a referee is not separating them. Notice the extremely fast triple left hook at 1:59. From there on, Tua got through with quite a few uppercuts and light hooks.

Also interesting to see how immensely short he is, compared to Holyfield who is "only" 6'2. Lewis was really impossible for him to fight.

Agreed ... pretty amazing about Evander , even now ... going into Tyson 1 he was on a bad low ... KO'ed by Bowe and that terrible performance v.s. Czyz ... then defeats Tyson ... go figure ...

The great boxing mind of Tommy Brooks hired Gary Bell and David Tua to prepare Evander Holyfield for Mike Tyson. Both were instructed to take it to Holyfield in sparring.
Gary Bell was first, Tua was last. Bell in the first week was kicking the crap out of Holyfield. As the weeks went on Holyfield adjusted and started handing him and Tua their asses in sparring. Without Brooks setting the gameplan for Tyson, Im sure Holyfield would have had a much tougher time with Mike Tyson.
