Boxing is entertainment. Entertainers deserve respect. Cory Spinks doesn't entertain. Cory Spinks doesn't deserve respect.
Anybody who has the balls to step into the ring and get his brains beaten for your entertainment deserves respect. Some people like intagibles and ring savvy. If you can't respect that, then that's your problem. Yes, he has a boring style, but to say he doesn't deserve respect is an assholish thing to say.
What's with all the boring talk? I mean generally, he's not the most fan-friendly, but am I the only one who thought last night's fight was a gutsy showing in a dramatic fight?
I was proud of Spinks last night, he could have easily quit last night and called it a career but he hung in the pocket and got back in the game and then schooled the youngster. I know he will never get the respect he deserves because he isn't a KO artist, but I think true boxing fans know he is probably one of the best pure boxers to ever bless the sport. Fitzgerald is 100% correct, the guy should be undisputed MW champ because he schooled the hell out of Taylor in their fight, I"m a JT fan, and he also beat Verno in their fight clearly IMHO. Oh well, at least there are some people who respect him.
the same people that call him boring are the same people who expect a fighter to catch 6 or 7 punches to the face before throwing one ... it's almost like they wanna see some one butchered in order to consider it entertainment....they're also the type that play grand theft auto only to run cars into each other ... grow up people
I respect him and I too think he got robbed against Taylor but I haven't seen a fight of his since then. he is just painfully boring to watch.
I couldn't agree more. Spinks gets a lot of hate because of his style but it still doesn't change he's a great boxer and a stylistic hell for most. I knew Spinks would be all wrong for Latimore don't know why his people put him in that fight.
