Unfortunately for Cotto, even if he pulled the miracle, most would just use Floyd's loss as proof that he was overrated all this time.

Cotto beat Mosley, Margarito, Judah, Quintana, and Clottey. That doesn't trump beating McCallum twice, Nunn, Holyfield, Barkley, and Jirov from 160 to heavyweight.

Cotto beat and at least fought all the best fighters in and around his division

    Pacquiao and Mayweather

Margarito, Judah, Mosley, Quintana, Clottey, Malignaggi

I have no problem with his 160 resume but Cruiserweight has never been a dominant division, the Jirov win doesnt impress me too much especially as he was caught juicing up at heavyweight.

Rahman fight changed to a NC due to illegal substances aswell as the Ruiz fight, a draw with an old Rahman and beating on a past prime holyfield

Fights with Eubank, Benn, Collins, Watson not coming to fruition aswell as losses to Montel Griffin, Roy Jones Jr, Drake Thadzi, Bum of the month club wins along with the proven juicing hurt Toneys claim as an ATG

Im sorry but an honest hardworking sportsman like cotto beats Toney for me

The Jirov win impresses me more than anything on Cotto's resume aside from the Mosley win (which isn't as impressive as Wright and Forrest's victories over him due to Mosley being clearly faded). McCallum and Nunn are better victories than anything on Cotto's resume, and somebody like Holyfield, as shot as he was, is every bit as impressive as beating the shell of Margarito in a lesser performance.

I have a pretty high standards for ATG's, and I think it puts him in the discussion. His only two losses are highly questionable and he would have beaten the #1 ranked pound for pound fighter of his era.

If people are willing to call guys with paper thin resumes like Slappy Joe and Wlad ATG's, Cotto has already eclipsed them.

An ATG? Yes It would be a huge win, and would be a huge boast.

The ATG? No while it would be a great win and a great boast to his standing. Othjers have been better and done more.

Thats a judgement call... Cause he has had a great career, lots of guys on the ATG list without wins over ATg fighters... and already he has quite a few very good wins, so if (and i don't think he can) he manages this major upset he has a serious case for being in the low bottom of that list.. he's had a great career..

And that's why it's better to look at fighters by resume and times they fought a fighter opposed to just accept things blindly. I may have the highest standards on ESB but I do see Cotto as talented but All Time, he'd get beat by too many people(any of the three he's been in) to consider him All Time Great. ATM I don't consider him great at all but a very good fighter who has a resume I can't deny but I question his ability to withstand the bleakest situations. Pacq and Marg 1 were his toughest fights and he quit, I can't push that to the side.

But if he wins.. He will be a fighter who took on the very best of alll styles.. and prevailed a against the style thought to be the very best..
