I will say Floyd won a closer fight than most are saying. But I do agree how strange it look how friendly Floyd was with Merchant but as well with all the HBO crew/cast. It seem so odd as if they even spent time before the fight or talk earlier or something else. They were very supportive of Floyd as soon as the fight began.
There was definitely a narrative!!! In the 2nd to 3rd rd they were already talking of a Mayweather whitewash!!!
you know what having watched it a third time and with out any 420 you have a case, and you are right they were defently selling bull**** though I thought Floyd won the first two times this time around I can see where Cotto may have won.
I'm sure they were looking to repare the relationship after the explosion that happend after the Ortiz fight so they were acting extra friendly to recover from the beef the had previously. Mayweather the day before the fight called Merchant to appologize and they probably just wanted to stay positive.
I too was shocked at the pro Mayweather commentary. Lampley usually cheerleads Cotto incessantly, but there was none of that this time AT ALL. Even when Cotto was landing some good shots Lampley ignored it.
There were definitely some politics at play this time around... The commentary and the judging were both ridiculous. Fight was closer than scored. Some writers had it for Cotto. But with all that $$$$$$$$$ looming in the distance between Pacquaio and Floyd, everyone knew their part and played it as per their masters.
