I agree with alot of what you post bro. Ive been following miguel since he was on epsn. One of my favorites, just two Ls in a row he would be getting an unwarranted shot. It would just mean more money an less worthiness. I want to see him fight Lara personally, thats a good fight

I disagree I think Lara kills Cotto and beats Canelo too IMO

that's is a more dangerous fight for Canelo. I believe he will lose to Lara. Lara has power and is a nasty dirty Mother efer in there.

Lara is Trout on Steroids with a killer instinct bad fight for Miguel, I rather Canelo vs Cotto. Cotto vs Lara is not a good fight for Miguel.

he should never take that fight Canelo either, not yet anyway

He needs to get a solid win first. He's lost 2 in a row.

I don't think he's earned it. It's a good matchup because of his experience but deserving is a strong word.

cotto cant beat a top jr middle anymore. hes had his shot at the top 2 money makers in the biz already so hes gotten all he deserves. i like and respect cotto, but puting him in with canelo is a waste of time for the rankings. we will all end up feeling sorry for cotto if he gets fed to canelo.

Boxing at 154 must not be so great if Cotto is being mentioned. He is not a real 154 pound fighter, and he has lost his last 2 fights.

If Canelo fought Cotto, it would be a hard fight to watch. because i like both guys, and really why does Cotto need to fight Canelo? Canelo already beat up Shane Mosley in a fight where Shane just couldn't win those rounds. Cotto got beat up against Trout, and then Canelo beat Trout. I think the perfect fight for Cotto would be Pacquiao. Pacquiao is coming off a KO loss and has slowed down and been humbled from the guy that stopped Cotto a few years ago. A fight vs Pacquiao could be a revenge fight for Cotto and I think a fight that the fans would really like to see.

Fans want to see the winners fight. Let Canelo face the winner of Mayweather Guerrero. Cotto lost to Mayweather and Trout, so let Cotto face either Guerrero (if he loses to Mayweather) or Pacquiao. Though it apperas Pacquiao is going to face either Brandon Rios or Mike Alvarado in China.

I like Cotto a lot, but I don't see how he deserves a shot at Canelo. He's lost his last 2 fights, hasn't had a huge win since 2007. how much did Margarito have left in 2011 when he fought Cotto? Margarito hasn't fought since, neither has Mayorga who basically retired in 2008. Foreman was probably Cotto's best performance since 2007. I thought Cotto deserved a shot at Floyd, but I thought he needed to rebound vs Trout to get back into title contention. then Trout lost and was knocked down by Canelo, and that suggests that there could be a gap between Canelo and the current version of Cotto. if anyone needs a tune up fight, it's Cotto, not Canelo.

To the thread title - no he does not. Lost to Mayweather, lost worse to Trout who just got beaten by Canelo. Cotto is a shadow of himself and now he deserves a shot at the best light-middleweight? I don't think so - if Cotto goes in against someone like Ishe Smith and wins then we can talk

He lost a close fight against Trout and a highly competitive fight against PBF . I say he should get a warm up fight before jumpin in there with Canelo .

Canelo vs Cotto prediction = Canelo stoppage in 9 .
