I often see fans use this term "he has beaten nobody". Then I look at his resume to prove them wrong. So I would put Urkal, Quintana, Mallinagi, Abdulaev, Corley, Bailey, Gomez, Clottey as names to prove them wrong but they will say "these guys are nobodies". So I will say ok so Mosley and Judah and they will say "ok so thats only two". To me if he was overrated he would not be able to beat all these guys like he did, not to mention Mosley, that victory should prove to everybody that Cotto is the real deal.

it just amazes me that these threads even exist. this guy puts his life on line and puts up great fights. is well respected, family man and is fair.

Him along with a few others has brought boxing back to its rightful place.

you learn more from losing then winning...

People always talk about throwbacks, well Cotto is a throwback to a time when boxers lost because they fought people capable of winning. Cotto has fought GREAT opposition, and has looked pretty damn good against a lot of his opponents. Cotto is great, and people who love boxing should be able to recognize that.

    :patsch

i guess this is what he gets from some for ducking KNOWONE.

Hey, im sure hed be looking much better right now if he didnt fight Margarito when knowone wanted him or Clottey. Who cares though, lets just label him overrated now the man is down:verysad

If any fighter fought the best consistantly, more likely than not...hes not going to go through with flying colours unless hes a truly great fighter.

Does not mean someone is overrated. He has been elite his whole career

Cotto beat a guy that you consider an elite but you gave an excuse why Mosley lost. We can also make an excuse why Cotto lost to Margo and Pac.

Cotto was beaten by a little one of a kind "phenom'' and a very big for welterweight, previously iron chinned, high work rate relentless machine...

Cotto still is a very good fighter and he was never overrated.. Overrated to me is more guys like Carl Froch & Arthur Abraham.

Anybody who loses is overrated now. Who isnt overrated? Reading some posts here you would think that boxing only has overrated guys or unproven.

Even someone with a top notch resume like Cotto is viewed as overrated after a loss to p4p #1 amazing.
