If he would have won a single round, or really landed any significant punches at any point, it is very possible the doctors give him the benefit of the doubt.

But when you are a mile behind and your eye is in danger, no athletic commission is gonna let that go.

I've been stopped because of an eye when I was AHEAD. It happens. If you can't stop the opponent from worsening the eye, and you can't build anything resembling momentum, you've been fairly bested.

What fight were idiots who say this watching. Cotto won easily. Won every round on my card. A one eyed fighter wasnt going to do **** in the last 3 rounds.

 

They should have let it go, Margo was giving Cotto trouble on that last round, and It was going to be a WAR! on those last rounds, Margarito would have gone all out, and Cotto was slowing down, too bad we were robbed of those last rounds, but I saw it coming, there was no way there were going to let Cotto loose in NY.

 

It was close, Cotto might have been winning the majority of the rounds, but they should have let the fight continue, tell me you wouldn't want to watch those last rounds as a Boxing fan? Regardless if Margarito might hurt cotto or not on tose rounds the fight should have gone till the end of the 12th. Rios vs Murray set the bar real high for the night, and Mares - Agbeko was a far more entertaining fight. But i guess if you're a cotto fan, you just wanted to see him win, as a Boxing fan I wanted a great fight.

Cotto owned Margarito in every exchange. It was not going to be a war, you were just going to see Cotto hitting Margarito all day with his left. Margarito was hitting air all night and the times he did hit Cotto, it didnt have any effect. Although I wanted the fight to continue...I really cant complain about the stoppage

 

Cotto was going to win. He attacked that bionic eye all night. He ran and clinched a lot. But he was going to win no matter what. Margarito needs to retire.

Really.....Left hook-right cross....Margarito misses excessively, Cotto ducks almost everything Margarito shots, and moves away quickly. The clinch was perfect and the spin moves really messed Margarito up. And as mention earlier...he was owned in every exchange....Margarito, is lucky they stopped the fight...because that eye was going to get beat into orbit !

 

Cotto was not "SAVED" by the ref. But the doctor should have stopped it by 7th or 8th round if his concern was getting Margo out of there. Stopping it on the 10th when Marg was starting to connect to Cotto more and more and cotto seems gassed enough for Margo to have a chance gives no justice for Margo.
