Byatchdaddy, Golovkin mandatory is a welterweight who is only holding the MW title as a bargaining chip.

We all know that he will beat Cotto and it's not because he's the better boxer but because he will impose his middleweight size and power.

Let see try that technique on Ward...he has no problem calling out Froch and Chavez but when Ward name comes up, all of a sudden he wants to fight his mandatory (by the way, he's has another MW belt he can fight mandatory off of) but he wants Cotto not for the challenge but because of the cash.

I'm pretty sure Cotto said to Kellerman that if after the Canelo fight, GGG is available, than he is available to. Was I the only one that heard this?

He's not really a middleweight, but with that said, if he's not going to fight a middleweight without some catchweight, then he should vacate the title and move back down to 154.

Yeah, I really don't get Cotto here. If you're not a middleweight give up the belt and go fight at 154 or 147. :?

You never heard Mayweather tell Canelo "leave me alone! I'm not a junior middle! I just happen to be the WBA junior middleweight champion! Stop picking on me!!"

It would have been awesome in the post fight interview if he would have said after he was not a middleweight that "as such, I will be vacating the title to let the real middleweights campaign for it. I will continue to fight at 154".

So Cotto doesn't have to fight Golovkin because he's not a middleweight, despite holding a title at the weight, and Golovkin has to go up to super-middle, despite previously stating he could go to 154 for a big fight and never having had a fight at 168? Ok then.

Nor should GGG have a problem facing super middles and light heavies, by that logic.

However, he DID demand a catchweight to defend the 154 lb title.

And that's a pretty absurd demand for the 'champion' to make.

But at least he did face the dude.

Then Pacquiao isn't a real welterweight. If Caitlyn Jenner is a real woman, then Cotto is a real middleweight.

Ok, so obviously you're both stupid and just don't follow boxing. Cotto a WW? Cotto couldn't make 147 without being a zombie or changing training habits over a long period. He was around 163-164 last night.
Golovkin just said the Ward fight would be made once Ward gets back on his feet... Meaning when he starts selling seats and gains TV viewers again, probably 2-3 good wins. Even Ward's team said they want some tune ups before big fights. He's been gone for 19 months.
Cotto just demolished a guy weighing 175 to 180 pounds. Cotto weighed around 163 last night. Don't be fooled by the 154 weigh-in show, Cotto weighed 163.5 a week out from the fight. At a catch weight of 157, GGG would come into the ring between 167-170. Hell, he was 168-170 in his last few fights. GGG would have a 5-7 pound advantage which is within the normal advantages people have on each other within the MW. For example, I guarantee Murray had around a 7-pounds on GGG and they are both Middleweights. Geale probably had 3-5 pounds on Golovkin. By the way, exactly why is it ok for Ward to have a 7-10 pound advantage on Golovkin, but not okay for Golovkin to have a 5-7 pound advantage on a guy holding the lineal title and WBC belt in his own division? GTFO out of here. You can't argue with me. You're not even a challenge.

The only way your logic would hold true is if GGG held the lineal title and WBC title at SMW or LHW. Since he doesn't, your logic fails.

What does what someone weighs on fight night have to do with titles?

Huh? I said nothing to link weights on fight night with titles. I guess I need to spell it out.
The post you quoted originally said the middleweight Lineal and WBC title holder (aka Cotto) should have no problem fighting a 170 middleweight. You replied, by that logic GGG should have no problem fighting SMWs and LHWs. I stated that your point would only be valid if Golovkin held the lineal/WBC titles in one of those divisions (SMW or LHW), like Cotto does at MW. Only then should GGG have no problem fighting SMWs and LHWs--if he held a title in one of those divisions. If Cotto didn't hold the titles, your logic would be sound, as well, and your an@logy would stand, but Cotto does and GGG doesn't, so your point is invalid.
As a side note, if GGG held a SMW title and was refusing to fight SMWs or forcing catchweights on them, I'd be ripping GGG on here the same way I've ripped Cotto. Oddly enough I bet most of the people defending Cotto for this farce would rip GGG for doing the same thing, if he did.

As you can see, Beatdaddy ,the post he quoted made no mention of lineal titles.

It says Cotto is not a (full-blown) middleweight who just fought a guy who weighed 182 on fight night (probably not precisely accurate, as he weighed in wearing street clothes, but clearly a guy who was at the very least in the mid-170s) ... so he should have no problem fighting a guy who commonly weighs 170 on fight night.

I pointed out that it works both ways, GGG should have no problem fighting super middles and light heavies since he commonly fights guys who weigh that on fight night, and since he's already a light heavy on fight night.

Neither his post nor mine had any mention of lineal titles. While you, Beatdaddy, seem obsessed with that aspect, but it wasn't what Cotto addressed, what Serge addressed nor what I addressed.

Happy to clear that up for you.
